This UK Chocolate week, Mondelēz International has launched #ProudlyMadeHere to champion the people and places that pour their time, effort and skill into making Cadbury chocolate.
Built on over 200 years of chocolate heritage, #ProudlyMadeHere celebrates Mondelēz International’s 3,800 talented employees across the UK with a new Impact Report and behind- the-scenes videos of Cadbury’s chocolate factories, demonstrating the chocolate maker as a case study in what regional good growth looks like.
The new report reveals that Mondelēz International’s economic contribution to the West Midlands economy has reached nearly £1 billion Gross Value Added in 2025, rising by 112% since 2021. The region alone accounts for 40% of Mondelēz UK’s total economic contribution.
#ProudlyMadeHere also showcases the journey of Cadbury chocolate through the UK, with behind-the-scenes videos of factories across the UK and the talented people creating Cadbury Dairy Milk.
The chocolate journey
- Chirk, North Wales: where expert teams roast cocoa beans, unlocking the rich, distinctive flavour at the heart of every Cadbury Dairy Milk bar
- British dairy farms: where farming partners across Wiltshire and Gloucestershire supply the fresh milk that gives Cadbury Dairy Milk its uniquely creamy taste.
- Marlbrook, Herefordshire: where skilled colleagues craft the chocolate crumb, the ingredient that has defined Cadbury’s flavour for generations.
- Bournville, Birmingham: the home of Cadbury since 1879, where chocolate makers blend tradition with innovation to create the bars the nation loves.
- Minworth, West Midlands: where distribution teams ensure Cadbury Dairy Milk reaches shelves and homes across the country.
Al Carns DSO OBE MC, MP for Birmingham Selly Oak, said: “Mondelēz and Cadbury provide a powerful example of what good growth can look like: long- term investment, high-quality employment, innovation, skills development and an authentic connection to the communities in which a business operates.
“The Government’s renewed ambition for good growth in every postcode provides an important opportunity to build on these successes. However, the West Midlands has historically been an overlooked region, receiving less public investment than other parts of the country. Food and drink manufacturing should be an important part of our industrial strategy, and so too should the West Midlands, given its assets, businesses and depth of talent.
“I am excited to see what this Government can do to help ensure that the West Midlands is given the tools to continue operating as one of the nation’s powerhouses of sustainable growth.”
Christian Woolfenden, SVP and managing director UK&I, said: “Every bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk carries a story of people and places across the UK. From our farming partners delivering fresh milk, to the teams creating chocolate crumb in Marlbrook and the chocolate makers in Bournville who have perfected their craft over generations, this is chocolate made with genuine pride.
“We want people to know that when they break off a piece of Cadbury Dairy Milk, they’re enjoying something shaped by thousands of skilled, passionate people right here in the UK. That’s what #ProudlyMadeHere is all about.”
Amanda Perry, manufacturing lead at the iconic Cadbury Bournville factory, said: “I love leading our Cadbury Bournville factory where, after over 200 years, we continue to produce over 1.5 million Cadbury Dairy Milk tablets, millions of Cadbury buttons, crème eggs and many more delicious chocolate products every day! Every person who comes to work in the factory is proud of the heritage we have here in Bournville, and the role they play in creating the nation’s favourite chocolate.”
