Motor Fuel GroupMotor Fuel Group (MFG), the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator, is delighted to announce the launch of Plug & Charge technology across 95% of its MFG EV Power charging network nationwide, in partnership with Octopus Electroverse. MFG EV Power customers can now plug in and charge vehicles instantly, removing the need for RFID cards, apps, or contactless payment to initiate a connection.

Plug & Charge is a new technological concept which offers a simpler, smarter way to charge your EV, setting a new standard for customer convenience in the UK EV market.

Plug & Charge technology establishes an encrypted connection, enabling secure, automatic authentication between compatible EVs and charging stations. Payment is then automated through the associated Electroverse account.

MFG’s investment in Plug & Charge is part of its broader commitment to support the UK’s transition to electric vehicles, delivering innovative convenience at scale for its customers.

A Plug & Charge connection can be established once certain technical requirements and certifications are met. To find out if your vehicle is eligible visit: What is Plug & Charge?.

Martin Symes, EV director at MFG, said: “At MFG, we’re committed to making the EV transition as easy as possible for drivers. By enabling Plug & Charge across almost our entire network, we’re removing frustrating inefficiencies and delivering the seamless, reliable charging experience our customers deserve. This is another major step in our ongoing investment to support the UK’s shift to electric vehicles, making MFG the first major UK network to deliver this game-changing convenience at scale.”

Matt Davies, director at Octopus Electroverse, added: “Charging your car should be as easy as plugging in your phone – and now it is. With Plug & Charge, drivers can simply plug in and go, with everything happening automatically in the background. No apps, no cards, no faff. We’re thrilled to expand our partnership with MFG to bring Plug & Charge to drivers across the UK, making charging simpler, smoother, and a lot more convenient.”
