PG TipsPG Tips, Britain’s most popular tea brand1, has unveiled a new range of specially blended black teas featuring four variants: Earl Grey, Chai, Gold, and English Breakfast. The blends – launching in retailers across the UK in November – have been created to allow British tea drinkers to enjoy new flavours as they usually like it – with milk! With the majority of Brits preferring their tea with a splash of milk these new blends have been designed with that in mind and they work equally well with milk or plant-based milks.

The blends have been crafted to encourage regular black tea drinkers to explore new flavours and integrate more special tea occasions into their daily routines and is part of the company’s continued strategic investment in quality & innovation.

Made in the PG Tips factory in Manchester and leveraging over a century of quality & expertise at PG Tips, the new range includes:

  • English Breakfast: Bold, strong & flavourful – adds a stronger taste to perfectly complement your breakfast without bitterness, the perfect way to kick-start your morning. Brew for 1-3 minutes with freshly boiled water. Best served with regular or plant-based milk.
  • Earl Grey: Refreshing, light & citrusy, a classy fragrant taste to reinvigorate your day. Brew for 1-3 minutes with freshly boiled water, or for longer if you like it stronger. Best served with regular or plant-based milk.
  • Chai: Warm, comforting & deliciously spiced – all the delicious taste of PG Tips black tea expertly blended with a medley of aromatic spices. Can be used for Hot Chai or a Chai latte (Hot or Iced), at home or for on the go. Brew for 2-4 minutes with freshly boiled water. Best served with regular or plant-based milk.
  • NEW & IMPROVED Gold: Indulgent, luxurious & full-bodied – this indulgent blend pairs perfectly with your favourite afternoon treats. Our master blenders recommend brewing for 1-3 minutes with freshly boiled water. Best served with regular or plant- based milk.

All four blends will be available at Tesco from November 4th, followed by Sainsbury’s on November 11th, and will subsequently roll out to other major retailers, including Amazon. The new range follows last year’s £40 million upgrade of the PG Tips factory in Trafford Park, Manchester, and the launch of a new & improved blend in October 2023.

This product launch will be supported by a comprehensive digital and social media strategy as part of PG Tips’ multi-million-pound investment in 2024. This includes the new ‘Rock Solid’ campaign, which marks PG Tips’ first new advertising initiative in eight years and featured the star of the Netflix drama Top Boy, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen.

Lipton Teas & Infusions, UK and Ireland, chief marketing officer, Eleanor Barker said: “Our Master Blenders at PG Tips have created these wonderful new Blends which we think will be a hit with regular black tea drinkers and give them something different to help them make their everyday tea break that little bit more special! We know the nation’s favourite way to drink tea is to drink it with milk, and these quality blends are robust enough to create that optimum drinking experience. The tea break has never been so enjoyable!”

PG Tips General Manager, UK and Ireland, Liam McNamara said: “At PG Tips we are always looking to elevate the tea-drinking experience and feel confident that with these four new Special Blends we offer something special for everyone, whether it’s a bold and flavourful English Breakfast in the morning to kick-start the day, a freshly fragrant Earl Grey or a warming, spicy Chai. “
