Pioneering research revealing what retail and leisure spaces could look like 10 years from now in 2034 is set to be unveiled at the Revo Village & Conference event in London on Tuesday 24th September.
Commissioned by Revo, formerly known as the British Council of Shopping Centres, and conducted by Trajectory, a leading insight and foresight consultancy, this eagerly awaited study will present three compelling future scenarios for retail and leisure spaces a decade from now.
These scenarios include a ‘core scenario’ depicting the most likely and significant developments, as well as ‘wildcard’ and ‘alternative’ scenarios that consider less probable but still impactful possibilities.
Tom Johnson, managing director of Trajectory, will present the findings, setting the stage for a lively debate with industry leaders, including Ojay MacDonald, chief executive of ATCM, Sam Cotton, head of asset management & leasing at Battersea Power Station, and others awaiting final confirmation.
This esteemed panel will provide quick-fire reflections on the research conclusions, offering diverse perspectives on the topic of ‘The Innovations Driving Thriving Retail and Leisure Places in 2034’.
Trajectory’s research, which has involved over 30 sector experts and academics, is designed to be thought-provoking and engaging, providing the retail and placemaking industry with credible scenarios for the future of retail and leisure spaces, to support the industry’s projections.
Vivienne King, Revo Board Member and conference host, highlights the significance of the study: “This research uncovers what may be possible by moving us from focussing on past and current trends in developing our business projections, to building alternative scenarios of the future. Whilst we can’t experience the future, the dynamic changes we are already seeing in our markets require us to uncover the possibilities and speculate on their implications for each of us, if we are to be equipped for the innovations demanded by the thriving markets of 2034.“
Trajectory’s scenario planning approach, built from trends, change drivers, and the views of industry leaders, offers a comprehensive look at potential futures across multiple aspects of the sector. This makes the research highly relevant for anyone interested in the future of retail, community, placemaking, the built environment, leisure, hospitality, and consumer behaviour.
Thanks largely to this research, the annual Revo Village & Conference, in partnership with Completely Retail Marketplace, is set to be the most inspiring and impactful to date.
