WickesWickes has officially opened its new store in Harrogate today (21st October), bringing its extensive range of home improvement products, expert advice and design services to local homeowners and trade professionals. The new store was officially opened by Harrogate Councillor Viv Poskit, marking the latest step in the retailer’s continued investment in its store network. The new store will be supported by a team of 21 colleagues, including 19 external hires, creating new employment opportunities in the local area.

Located on Ripon Road, Harrogate (HG1 2BS), the new store features 10,835 sq. ft. of ground floor space, alongside a 3,200 sq. ft. mezzanine housing a dedicated Kitchen and Bathroom showroom. Harrogate introduces a new small store format concept for Wickes, bringing together home improvement products, expert advice and inspiration under one roof. Digital screens throughout the store showcase Wickes’ products and services, helping customers explore ideas for projects of all sizes, from refreshing a room to planning a complete kitchen or bathroom transformation.

The Kitchen and Bathroom showroom allows customers to explore a range of designs and finishes, with Wickes’ Design Consultants on hand to provide the free Kitchen and Bathroom design service and help customers plan with confidence. Customers can also benefit from Wickes’ trusted installation service, alongside 15-minute Click & Collect and the Rapid Delivery service, which offers local orders delivered directly to customers’ doors within three hours, seven days a week, for an additional £6 delivery fee.

The new store features 100 rooftop solar panels, with a combined capacity of 30kW. Expected to generate approximately 41,880kWh of renewable electricity each year, the system supports Wickes’ ongoing investment in more sustainable stores by helping to reduce reliance on grid electricity and associated costs and carbon emissions.

Local trade people can stock up on project essentials, including timber, power tools and cement from trusted brands such as Bosch, Blue Circle and Knauf. TradePro members can save 10% on every purchase, alongside exclusive perks, fuel savings and ongoing rewards.

To celebrate the opening, customers can enjoy 15% off in store from Friday 30th October to Sunday 1st November. Wickes will also host a special decorating event in partnership with Dulux on Saturday 31st October. Customers will have the chance to meet the iconic Dulux dog, take a photo with the much-loved mascot and enter a competition to win Dulux merchandise, while picking up inspiration for their next decorating project.

Kate Thompson, head of property at Wickes, said: “We’re delighted to open our new store in Harrogate, bringing trusted home improvement products and expert advice to the local community. Our new small format store has been designed to make the most of the space, with a dedicated Kitchen and Bathroom showroom to help customers find inspiration and plan their projects with confidence. We’re also pleased to welcome 21 colleagues to the team and look forward to supporting local homeowners and trade professionals with their home improvement projects.”

The Wickes Community Programme has launched in Harrogate, supporting local charities and community groups with donated tools and materials to help improve community spaces. As part of the initiative, the new Harrogate store is supporting Mind Harrogate with supplies to create a partitioned corridor, allowing visitors to access the WC facilities without disrupting counselling sessions. This will help protect confidentiality and create a more private environment, enabling the charity to offer more one to one mental health sessions for the local community.
