Lancashire based Oato have enjoyed phenomenal success in the last few years having landed listings in major retailers, including Sainsbury’s. Such is the demand for delicious, fresh, British-made oat milk that the listings keep coming, the latest is the addition of Oato to 120 more Sainsbury’s stores. From April 2026, Oato Fresh Barista Oat 1 Litre (RRP: £1.75) and Oato Fresh Barista Oat 1 Pint (RRP: £1.10) will be available to buy from 516 Sainsbury’s stores.
Already the best-selling fresh oat milk on British milk rounds, Oato is widely available across Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Waitrose and on Ocado. Sales are growing steadily — the Rate of Sale has increased by over 45% year on year*— proof that this is not just a product for the free-from category, but one that is a staple in households up and down the country.
While almost all other oat milk brands on offer are UHT, Oato is fresh – and you can really taste the difference. Oato is among the few to offer a high-quality, great-tasting fresh dairy alternative, at a price that shoppers can afford every week.
Commenting on the expansion of the Sainsbury’s listing, Founder of Oato, Carl Hopwood, said: “When we started delivering fresh oat milk on milk rounds in Lancashire, a national Sainsbury’s listing felt a long way off. It isn’t anymore. Our aim has always been to make great tasting, fresh and affordable oat milk available to everyone across the country, and that is exactly what we are achieving.”
Oato stands out for many reasons, not least for its sustainability credentials. Oato is a British brand that manufactures in the UK using 100% British oats. The company continues to make considered choices across its operations to help reduce environmental impact, such as powering its Lancashire bottling site with solar energy and reusing recycled brown bins as delivery crates.
