Pets at Home is set to open 4 new locations this March following a capital investment of more than £3 million, adding over 20,000 sq ft of new veterinary and petcare retail space in Giltbrook (Nottingham), Stocksbridge (Sheffield), Kew (London) and Glossop (Derbyshire). The new additions to the estate strengthen petcare services in the regions with new clinical capacity, in‑store experiences, providing access to integrated, high‑quality petcare services for local pet owners.

The busy month kicks off with two of the new petcare centres launching this Friday, 13th March. Pets at Home Kew will be a new 9,911 sq ft store, fully focused on dedicated retail services including a pet village, aquatics centre, and specialist support, while in Glossop, Pets will launch a relocated and expanded 7,663sq ft Petcare Centre offering veterinary care, 24hour emergency support, an aquatics centre, and an adoption centre.

Later in the month, a new 1,410 sq ft Vets for Pets practice in Stocksbridge will enhance local clinical capability, and a new 1,913 sq ft practice in Giltbrook will provide greater choice and convenience for routine and specialist veterinary care.

These openings form a key part of Pets at Home’s continued investment in expanding and updating its national petcare centre network. By increasing veterinary capacity, modernising store formats and ensuring local communities have access to the full range of veterinary and retail services, the business is strengthening its position as the UK’s leading petcare provider best placed to meet the needs of local pet owners. The investment made throughout March reflects growing demand for accessible, locally led veterinary care, preventative health services, expert petcare advice and high‑quality retail environments for pet owners in communities across the country.

Now operating 460 stores and partnering with more than 450 Vets for Pets practices, Pets at Home continues to make significant investments in its services and estate to meet the evolving needs of UK pet owners. More than half of the locally owned, independent Vets for Pets practices are located within a Pets at Home Petcare Centre, giving both clients and customers access to the full petcare ecosystem.

Pets at Home Chief Operating Officer, Anja Madsen, said: “Continued investment in our physical estate is central to our retail strategy and to strengthening our wider petcare ecosystem. By modernising our stores and expanding into new locations, we are enhancing the in-person experience that so many of our customers value, from tailored advice to convenient, integrated services. These new openings reflect our commitment to building a contemporary, future ready estate that supports pets and their owners however they choose to shop.

“We want every visit to Pets at Home to feel special, with moments of magic for pets and their pet parents, as well as the confidence that they are getting the right support at every stage of their pet’s life. These new openings are another step in building a modern, future-ready estate that strengthens our petcare ecosystem and makes it easier for customers to shop with us in the way that suits them best.”

Vets for Pets Managing Director, Richard Dening-Smitherman, said: “Our unique jointventure model continues to set Vets for Pets apart, giving partners the freedom to run their own practice while benefiting from the scale, investment and infrastructure of the UK’s leading petcare business. By opening new practices within Pets at Home stores, we’re able to offer immediate access to a complete petcare solution, from preventative health and specialist clinical services to highquality retail and expert advice, all under one roof.”
