Creative Cornish clothing brand Seasalt is pleased to announce the launch of its resale platform with Reskinned, the sustainable pre-loved clothing repair and resale specialist. The resale platform will enable Seasalt customers to buy pre-loved and repaired Seasalt clothing that has been taken back from customers to be rehomed. Through the new online shop, customers will be given the opportunity to uncover pre-loved treasures and give garments a second life, avoiding them being sent to landfill.
Seasalt’s takeback service with Reskinned launched in February 2023 and over 2,000 items have been received in the first six weeks – making Seasalt the 12th most requested brand for resale. The resale launch is the latest phase in the partnership that enables customers to return pre-loved clothing, in any condition, to be rehomed or otherwise responsibly recycled, and receive a voucher for money off their next Seasalt purchase.
Paul Hayes, CEO at Seasalt, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible response from customers getting involved in the takeback initiative and are delighted to be able to launch the resale service so quickly. It’s so important to us, as a business, to do what we can to encourage circularity in our industry and the success to date is testimony to the quality of our Seasalt product.”
Clothing passes through a thorough grading service where it’s checked for quality and condition. Items for resale are handpicked by the Reskinned team, ozone-cleansed (a zero-water cleaning process) so they smell fresh as new, with each garment then certified as being in its best condition and ready to be sent to a new home. The scheme aims to maximise the life of Seasalt garments whilst reducing clothing waste – making the process easier for everyone.
Matt Hanrahan, co-Ffounder of Reskinned, said: “At Reskinned, we’re opening up the pre-loved market to new shoppers. We do this by making buying pre-loved as straightforward as buying new, through our high-quality product photography and 30-day returns policy. Within 6 months, Reskinned has developed a loyal customer base, with a 30% repurchase rate. Customers love what we do and our drop models work, with products generally selling through within 3 days and a returns rate that is significantly below industry norms.”
Seasalt is committed to ambitious sustainability targets. These include increasing the use of certified sustainable materials in its products year on year, transitioning to become a Carbon Net Zero business by 2040, and working with trusted partners – like Reskinned – who support its commitment to making responsible choices for people and the environment.
Seasalt pre-loved pieces will be ready to shop from the 2nd April 2023. For more information visit: www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/
