Shoezone collaborates with UK walking charity for May’s National Walking Month

Shoezone, the online and in-store footwear retailer, has partnered with Living Streets, the UK walking charity, to encourage more people to walk to work and school for May’s National Walking Month, with five lucky winners each receiving a £50 voucher to spend at the footwear retailer.

With the sun shining in May and highs consistently over 20C, it’s the perfect weather to walk to work and school – just don’t forget to bring a water bottle!

Walking helps contribute to the 60 active minutes a day recommended by health experts, yet less than half of pupils in the UK achieve this and over a third of adults do less than 2.5 hours of physical activity per week.

Walking children to school or as part of the work commute can be a simple way to up weekly activity, increase alertness and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

Living Streets’ Walk to School week runs from 19th – 23rd May and will see pupils take on The Great Space Walk, meeting various colourful intergalactic friends along the way.

Winners can use their gift cards in-store, online and on the shoezone app to purchase anything from school shoes to sandals. Winners will also benefit from the retailer’s free next day delivery with no minimum spend, seven days a week.

To take part in the chance to win a £50 shoezone voucher, complete the sign-up form found at http://livingstreets.org.uk/shoezone by 31st May 2025. Winners will be awarded their gift voucher in early June.

A spokesperson for shoezone says: “We are delighted to be working with Living Streets to help encourage adults and children to start their day off on the right foot. We hope a new pair of school shoes or comfy trainers will inspire people across the country to walk more, enjoying the spring weather and a chance to share some quality time together.

“There are plenty of ways that people can get involved and push themselves to increase their step count. For example, throughout the month of April, the shoezone team took on a step challenge to see how far around the world they could walk and in total 49,737,512 steps were walked.”

Tanya Braun, Director of External Affairs and Fundraising, Living Streets said:

“There are many benefits of going for a short walk, from enjoying time in nature to feeling fitter and healthier.

“This National Walking Month, we want to hear what Brits find most magical about walking and wheeling. We’re incredibly grateful to Shoezone for providing prizes to help us spread the walking bug this May. To enter the prize draw, simply share your #MagicOfWalking stories with us!”
