Spar Scotland launches £50,000 Great Big Giveaway to reward shoppers and drive supplier sales

Spar ScotlandSpar Scotland has launched The Great Big Giveaway, a six-week, supplier-backed customer campaign designed to drive footfall, grow basket spend and support participating brands across almost 300 stores. Running from 10 September 2026, the campaign will give back more than £50,000 in Spar Scotland vouchers to shoppers, with 1,200 winners in total.

The mechanic is purchase-linked. Customers buy any three participating products in store, then scan a QR code or visit the campaign webpage and upload a photo of their receipt to enter.

By rewarding a three-product purchase, the campaign is built to encourage multi-buy and lift basket spend across promoted supplier lines.

More than 150 products are included across the campaign, with lines in every major category from confectionery and soft drinks to chilled, frozen, licensed and household, alongside all fresh fruit and vegetables and all Barista Bar coffee. Participating brands include Batchelors Super Noodles, Birds Eye, BrewDog, Budweiser, Echo Falls, Fairy, Fanta, Hovis, IRN-BRU, KP Nuts, Magnum, McCain, Red Bull, Reese’s, Skittles, Walkers and Werther’s Original Popcorn, among many others.

Rather than a single headline prize, the giveaway rewards 200 shoppers every week for six weeks, with prizes from £25 to £100. The high-volume structure is designed to feel attainable and keep customers coming back to enter week after week.

For suppliers, the campaign is a Scotland-wide promotional platform that links brand participation directly to in-store purchase. Spar Scotland is offering a range of campaign packages giving participating brands visibility across in-store point of sale, digital screens, retailer channels and campaign assets, alongside a clear sell-in story across stores and communities.

To mark the launch, Spar Scotland brought the campaign to its Garthamlock store, with Scotland Women’s National Team and Rangers player Nicola Docherty fronting the activity. Launch content is being used across campaign channels, retailer communications and in-store materials.

Sonya Harper, Interim CEO for Spar Scotland, said: “The Great Big Giveaway does two jobs at once. It rewards the loyal local shoppers who choose Spar every day, and it gives our supplier partners a high-profile, Scotland-wide platform tied directly to sales. With 200 winners every week across almost 300 stores, it is a campaign our retailers can get right behind.”

The Great Big Giveaway is supported through in-store point of sale – visually and audibly on screens and in-store radio, the Spar Scotland campaign webpage, owned and hyper-local social channels, STV and radio advertising, vehicle livery, email marketing, participating supplier amplification and PR. It reinforces Spar Scotland’s positioning as a generous, community-focused retailer while giving stores and suppliers a shared commercial moment to build around.
