TRACES targets “better-for-you” category with new lighter Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

TRACES – the better-for-you wine and spritz brand – has expanded its lighter wine range with a new Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, containing zero sugar and only 79 calories per glass.

The brand brings its “light as a feather” approach to the hugely popular and recognisable wine style, offering almost 30% fewer calories than a typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc while still retaining the classic characteristics the New Zealand region is renowned for.

Unlike wines where alcohol or other components are removed following production, nothing is stripped from the TRACES Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to achieve its lower calorie content. The wine is fully fermented from fruit picked at the optimum point to deliver the desired flavour profile while achieving zero sugar, 79 calories per glass and 11.5% ABV.

The result is a crisp, aromatic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with bright tropical fruit, citrus zest and a classic hint of gooseberry, presented in TRACES’ premium bottle design.

The launch comes as health increasingly influences what consumers choose to drink. The 2025 Drinkaware Monitor found that 64% of UK drinkers who are making changes to their drinking cite health concerns as a motivation. Separate UCL research found that almost half of drinkers said calorie labelling would prompt them to change their drinking habits, with choosing lower-calorie drinks among the changes consumers would consider.

Tom Bell, founder of TRACES and DrinkWell UK, comments: “Consumers shouldn’t have to move away from wine they love and life’s pleasures simply because they want to make healthier lifestyle choices. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is already a hugely familiar and popular wine with UK consumers, so it was a natural next step for TRACES to offer a better-for-you version. We’ve delivered the characteristics people expect from a Marlborough Sauvignon – crisp, aromatic and full of flavour – at 11.5% ABV, with zero sugar and just 79 calories a glass.

“We believe better-for-you wine has the potential to become a significant part of the category as more consumers look for products that deliver on both flavour and what’s inside the bottle.”

TRACES Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is now available on DrinkWellUK priced at £12.99 per bottle.
