Global experience innovation company Valtech has partnered with MandM, one of the UK’s leading online fashion and sportswear retailers, to launch a state-of-the-art digital experience that will combine AI-driven search capabilities with premium shopping features. This collaboration represents a significant step in MandM’s journey towards customer experience innovation.

MandM sought to address a core need: elevate its digital offering while maintaining the brand’s commitment to simplicity, value and, most importantly, everyday brand deals. As part of this effort, the company wanted to help customers effortlessly find what they want and carry out transactions much more easily via an intuitive and accessible mobile app.

As MandM’s trusted innovation partner, Valtech designed and implemented the mobile app by combining cutting-edge technology with strategic insight into the company’s customer base and market. Built for both iOS and Android, the app utilises advanced Google Cloud and Contentstack technologies and will have AI-powered features to deliver a seamless, personalised and intelligent shopping experience.

Key components of the mobile app will include:

  • AI-powered search and browsing for improved product discoverability.
  • Exclusive shopping functionalities, offering access to brands and products to build customer loyalty while driving brand differentiation in a competitive market.
  • Inclusive features that meet accessibility standards, ensuring a seamless experience for all users.
  • A scalable, future-ready framework using Google’s Flutter software for easy and efficient UI updates. This also complements MandM’s Google Cloud strategy, laying the groundwork for deeper adoption of Google Cloud Platform services to support intelligent localisation, scalable customer experiences, and rapid expansion into European markets.

Tom Goode, customer and e-commerce director at MandM, said: “Valtech understood how best to transform our shopping experience and take our business to the next stage of growth. We’ve not only gained technological sophistication, but also new ways of working and thinking when it comes to product innovation and prioritisation. The outcome is a turning point for our brand and sets us on the right path for the future.”

Matt Hildon, retail portfolio director at Valtech, added: “Customers have more choice than ever on how, where and when to shop. Retailers need to leap ahead of the competition, adopt a culture of innovation and drive loyalty in order to stay at the forefront of their customers’ minds. MandM’s new app built on Contentstack and Google Cloud technologies shows the incredible results that can be achieved when a retailer acts upon these market dynamics and evolving customer needs.

“By integrating Google Cloud’s AI with data operations and front-end experiences, MandM’s offering will be primed for the modern customer and retail landscape. We’re excited for what’s to come as we continue our collaboration.”

The adaptive digital experience platform from Contentstack plays a critical role in achieving MandM’s vision of delivering live, up-to-date content via their new app. Speaking of the integration with Contentstack. Rukshana Karunaratne, VP Customer Success at Contentstack said: “By leveraging Contentstack’s cutting-edge platform and flexible architecture, MandM’s content team has dramatically reduced the time needed for content updates—from days to minutes. This agility gives them an undisputed edge in the market, allowing them to deliver state-of-the-art digital experiences with speed and efficiency.”

Looking ahead, Valtech and MandM will continue to build on this momentum by expanding the app’s multilingual capabilities and refining its personalisation features, with the goal of further enhancing customer engagement and driving growth.

MandM’s new mobile app is available now, with AI-powered search and exclusive shopping functionalities to be introduced in the near future.
