Waitrose Canary Wharf will soon be home to the first in-store GAIL’s takeaway bakery. The opening comes a year on from the introduction of dedicated GAIL’s bakery areas within 64 Waitrose stores.
The bakery is being built in GAIL’s unique style and will be 280 sq ft in size. The first of its kind, Waitrose Canary Wharf customers will be able to shop a range of breads, baked goods and speciality coffee all freshly prepared on site.
In addition to takeaway options, customers will be able to order through GAIL’s click and collect service, and it will also offer home and office delivery for its sharing ranges.
Today’s announcement reinforces our commitment to enhancing and improving the Waitrose experience for customers, a record number of whom shopped with us last year. It also builds on our wider strategy to invest in Waitrose stores through upgrades, refurbishments and new openings.
Nathan Ansell, customer director at Waitrose, said: “Building on our successful partnership with the launch of a new and innovative GAIL’s bakery is hugely exciting. Synonymous with quality, expertise, and taste, GAIL’s very much reflects our own core values and we know how much our food loving customers enjoy their products.”
Marta Pogroszweska, GAIL’s managing director, added: “We are delighted to be opening one of our neighbourhood bakeries within the Canary Wharf Waitrose. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with Waitrose and welcoming the community to our latest craft bakery.”
Waitrose Canary Wharf accounts for nearly 5 percent of the total GAIL’s Waitrose sales. Nationally, sales of GAIL’s lines within Waitrose stores are up 35 percent year on year.
The GAIL’s takeaway bakery will be located on the lower ground floor, in a prime position to serve the Canary Wharf community. For more information on the bakery, please visit gailsbread.co.uk/bakeries/
