Zebra collaboration with Evri cuts service disruptions by 99%

Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in digitising and automating workflows to deliver intelligent operations, announced that UK parcel delivery leader, Evri is offering an enhanced self-service experience for customers and has won new deals with a future-ready Zebra solution across 7,000 ParcelShops.

The Evri self-service solution is integrated into a customised, one-stop shop for parcel drop-off, scanning, and labelling. Collection experiences are now more intuitive and the service is more reliable, which is reflected in improved customer satisfaction scores.

Evri’s new fleet of modern, print-in-store self-service kiosks feature the Zebra ET4 series enterprise tablet and ZD600 series linerless printer within a custom-built housing unit. Each ET4 series tablet connects to Evri’s network, running Evri’s internal app on Zebra hardware. Zebra manages the entire kiosk lifecycle, and if a terminal ever fails, the Zebra OneCare™ Fastrack Service ensures that a replacement arrives the next day. If a ParcelShop team member needs help or training, Zebra’s service desk guides them through step-by-step troubleshooting.

With this new solution, service failures have been cut by 99%, while a reduction in downtime now sees fewer than 10 shops a week offline thanks to a quicker online return. In addition, the solution’s reliability along with its ease of use and deployment have also been designed with rapid business scaling in mind, helping Evri win major deals with large UK retailers. The result is higher parcel volumes and more convenient access points for customers.

“Evri ParcelShops, powered by Zebra’s solutions, give us the foundation to serve customers the way they want to be served, which is conveniently, sustainably, and at scale,” said Thomas Weaver, IT Procurement Manager, Evri. “With people able to send and collect parcels through the network more easily, customer satisfaction has improved and large UK retailers have rolled out the kiosks across all their stores.”

Sustainable, long-term partnership

Evri’s success is built on its close working relationship with Zebra as accelerated timelines, rapid prototype cycles, and efficient pilots ensured the solution met expectations as quickly as possible.

“As the industry shifts toward out-of-home and consumer-to-consumer delivery, reliable technology becomes the pillar everything sits on,” said Weaver. “Zebra is a true collaborator, and its technology allows us to quickly expand our out-of-home network quickly as needed.”

By switching to Zebra ZeroLiner linerless printing, Evri has also reduced its carbon footprint. With its former kiosks, wax-backed liner paper piled up quickly, and all of it went straight to a landfill. Zebra’s linerless rolls remove the waste and last much longer, with about 66% more labels per roll, resulting in less frequent roll changes, reducing deliveries and lowering emissions. The experience is simpler for customers too, with no loose backing sheets left behind.

Evri and Zebra look ahead to growth

“We’re pleased to contribute to making important work better every day for Evri’s frontline workers and meeting the needs of its customers who want a hassle-free parcel drop-off and collection experience,” said Phil Sambrook, EMEA Transport and Logistics Vertical Lead, Strategy, Zebra Technologies. “By providing a reliable and easy-to-use solution, Evri can focus on expanding its network and services, confident that the technology underpinning its operations enhances the customer experience and is ready for the future.”
