Planted secures major UK supermarket listing in Tesco

Planted, Europe’s leading FoodTech scale-up, famous for its clean-label plant-based meat, has secured a new major national retailer listing in supermarket chain Tesco. The Planted range, consisting of 3 SKUs, will be available to buy across 350 stores nationwide from 3rd October 2023 and debuts its new style packaging.

What’s more, one of the SKUs, planted.duck Hoisin, is a new product for the brand and will debut exclusively in Tesco stores across the UK.

Easy to prepare, and with 61% less CO2 than its animal counterpart, planted.duck Hoisin builds on the common flavours of East Asian cuisine, resulting in a sweet yet tangy flavour, infusing excitement into any kitchen. The perfect balance of caramelised crispiness and tender juiciness, waving goodbye to dry and dull dishes.

As all of Planted’s meats, planted.duck Hoisin is meticulously crafted with only a few chosen clean ingredients, fortified with Vitamin B12 through fermentation. Blending sunflowers, oats, and peas, it offers a nutritional medley that excites the palate.

In addition to this innovation, Planted is pleased to announce its certification as a B Corporation. Planted is now part of a global community of businesses who meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. This recognition validates Planted’s commitment to not only developing innovative and delicious plant-based alternatives, but also making a positive contribution to society and the environment. Planted’s certification comes because of its exceptional dedication to sustainability, achieving a remarkable score of over 90 points (category: outstanding), including the recognition that its business model achieves significant resources conservation.

Planted is the new standard in the plant-based meat industry; thanks to its clean-label approach and goal to give meat eaters a chance for delicious, sustainable and healthy choices everyday without any sacrifices. Planted’s range is made with 0% additives and includes dietary fibres whilst containing all essential amino acids to ensure they are a high-quality source of protein.

VP of commercial, Europe, Rob Reames, said: “At Planted we’re bucking the trend of plant-based doomsters with a launch into a major retailer with a brand new packaging to boot. It’s a real moment for the business, particularly as we’ll also be launching our delicious hoisin duck which has been created due to high consumer demand.”

The 3 SKUs available at Tesco, RRP £3, from 3rd October are:

  • planted.chicken Lemon and Herb 160g
  • planted.kebab Original 160g
  • planted.duck Hoisin 160g
