eBay showcases its role on driving fashion circularity in new ‘Fashion Redressed’ digital film series

Today, eBay unveils its branded film which goes on a journey with Amy Bannerman, eBay’s Pre-Loved Style Director to showcase the importance of encouraging sustainability, value and trust in the fashion world and Love Island icon Tasha Ghouri, the company’s first Pre-loved Fashion Ambassador who shows how people can express themselves through fashion, without damaging the planet.

The original mini-documentary film series, Fashion Redressed, is produced for the Global Fashion Agenda by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, the creative content division of BBC Studios and includes 11 self-contained branded films that explores how an awareness of the changing climate is influencing the way we consume fashion and seeking to find solutions that protect the planet.

Developed to spotlight the innovations influencing the new seasons of fashion, the series features a collection of stories from across the world, of tailor-made solutions to benefit both people and the planet. Ultimately raising awareness of how  textiles go into landfill and the high consumption of clothing and fashion as a whole.

Since the marketplace was first founded 28 years ago, eBay UK has championed a healthier planet and economy, through the selling and buying of pre-loved goods on the marketplace, across fashion, home and garden, electronics, collectibles and more.

From building trust amongst customers with its Authenticity Guarantee Programme, so shoppers can purchase sneakers, watches, handbags and jewellery with confidence, to championing behavioural change across the nation with eBay’s partnership with Love Island which saw searches for pre-loved fashion soar – eBay uncovers the fashion gems that shopping pre-loved has to offer.

In the film, eBay’s pre-loved style director, Amy Bannerman, opens the doors to her personal and professional wardrobes, showcasing the unique and rare pieces she has found on eBay for both herself and her clients – including an Authenticity Guaranteed luxury handbag. Amy said: “I’ve been a pre-loved champion for as long as I can remember, and there are so many things I love about it – you save money, the quality is better, and you really get a sense of individuality. There are enough clothes in existence already to suit everyone’s wish lists,  whether it’s that perfect black dress, or the coat you’ve always dreamed of. It’s always been a dream of mine for pre-loved to become cool, and seeing celebrities and influencers on red carpets wearing vintage items, it just helps to increase awareness around this.”

eBay’s Pre-Loved Ambassador, Tasha Ghouri, speaks about how being in Love Island changed her perception of pre-loved fashion for the better. Speaking in the episode about how you can express yourself through the style choices you make, Tasha said: “Pre-Loved fashion makes me, me! It means I can really express myself through the clothes I wear. Before Love Island, I wasn’t fully aware of how bad fast fashion was for the environment. But now, I’ve realised you can choose pre-loved and still get the incredible pieces you’ve always wanted. It’s all about making small swaps to the wardrobe, that’s the best starting point.”

The episode is available to global audiences from today on BBC StoryWorks and available to view in the UK here: https://globalfashionagenda.org/about-gfa-academy/fashion-redressed/.
