IKEA UK and Tesco to roll-out over 70 new mobile pick-up points across the UK

IKEA has announced the national roll-out of over 70 additional mobile pick-up points in partnership with Tesco, providing customers across the UK with a new convenient, accessible, and affordable way to shop at IKEA. Through the service, shoppers can collect their online IKEA orders from a designated area in the carpark of participating Tesco stores – with orders over £100 free to collect and £5 for all other orders.

This UK roll-out follows a pilot launch of the scheme last year and the trial of 12 mobile pick-up points*, which has brought the retailer closer to its customers across a range of key locations. The gradual expansion is already underway, with over 70 new pick-up points planned throughout various regions in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, which are all set to be live by Autumn 2024.

When placing an order online, customers go through the usual checkout process and select the Collect from Partner service for their local Tesco store. Following IKEA Click and Collect signage within the carpark, customers go to the pick-up point at their chosen date and time and meet with a delivery driver, who will hand over their order.

Jakob Bertilsson, country customer fulfilment manager, IKEA UK, said: “This national roll-out of mobile pick-up points is an exciting milestone in our partnership with Tesco, which will bring IKEA closer to people across all parts of the UK. As customer shopping behaviours change and evolve, we will continue to grow our service offer to make shopping with IKEA more convenient, accessible, and affordable than ever before.”

The expansion of IKEA’s mobile pick-up point network further strengthens the range of Collect from Partner and store services now available to customers. This also includes 24 Shift self-serve collection lockers across the UK and 8,000 local DPD pick-up points, as well as IKEA’s home parcel and larger furniture home delivery and same day, free click and collect across all stores.

Additionally, online shoppers can now book free small parcel deliveries to their home for orders over £60 for the first time, while prices for furniture delivery have been reduced. Large truck delivery for up to 150kg is now £25 (down from £40) and £30 for express (down from £50), and extra-large express delivery is £45 (reduced from £50). For more information, visit IKEA’s delivery services page.

Over the past year, IKEA has also launched three Plan & Order Points (smaller stores dedicated to kitchen, bedroom, and living room planning) in Aintree, Stockport, and Preston, improving access to free planning support for millions in the north-west of England. Increasing physical access to customers remains a priority for IKEA, which has plans to open further planning locations in the northwest and beyond – in addition to the upcoming launch of new city stores on Oxford Street and in Brighton.
