New Jisp retailer, Pak Supermarkets, has seen the number of shoppers downloading and using Scan & Save in its stores rocket since rolling the app out in two of its stores.

Pak Supermarkets brought its Alum Rock Road, Saltley, Birmingham store onboard in December 2023, before launching Scan & Save in its Coventry Road, Birmingham store in February 2024.

In that short space of time the retailer has seen just short of 7,000 shoppers download and use the app across the two stores, resulting in a quarter of a million scans through the app.

The Alum Rock Road site, which has been operating Scan & Save the longest, has acquired over 5,000 unique users already and is averaging 2000 scans per day, with the typical shopper redeeming against 6.6 products versus and industry average of 2.8 products.

Repeat visits are also up on the industry standard with shoppers visiting the store 4.6 times per week versus a convenience sector average of just 2.7 times.

“We’ve enjoyed a very fast start to our Scan & Save experience, sales growth was around 17% to begin with but has now jumped to 22%,” said Siam Hafeez, business development manager for Pak Supermarkets. “Our customers love the app and are using it every day. We’ve really pushed it hard in store, telling customers about how they could save money and earn rewards, but to be honest our customers are now doing that job for us and telling their friends, family and even other customers about Scan & Save.”

Scan & Save offers a loyalty and reward scheme for independent retailers. The shopper uses money-off vouchers in a participating local store and earns rewards for every redemption. The scheme ensures shopper loyalty to local stores as reward vouchers can only be used in the store they were earned in, helping communities thrive by keeping spend local.

“Pak Supermarkets have been outstanding since joining Jisp Scan & Save,” said Jisp retail director, Esther Lawrence. “Within only weeks of bringing their first store onboard they already had thousands of shoppers signed up and that has continued to grow. The second store came onboard more recently, but already has well over 1,000 shoppers using the app and redeeming regularly. The Scan & Save activity is delivering significant additional revenue for the Pak Supermarket business, which is great news for them.”

Shoppers download the app from their mobile device and load vouchers into their wallet. Once in store, they simply scan, tap and redeem the vouchers at the till point saving pounds on their weekly shop.
