New AustralianSupermarket wine aisles are getting a vibrant update this springtime with the arrival of a number of standout Australian wines which capture the spirit of Australia and deliver it straight to UK consumers.

From the bold reds of South Australia to elegant cool-climate wines from Tasmania and lower alcohol environmentally conscious wines, the new listings from Australia provide something for every palate — just in time for the season of lighter evenings, dining al fresco and seasonal gatherings.

New at Waitrose:

Tread Softly Rosé by Fourth Wave Wine

Tread Softly is a range of moderate alcohol, modern wines that are lighter on the environment and on the palate.

Ideal for the brighter evenings and spring climate, while being a lower percentage volume, the Tread Softly Rose, now available at Waitrose, is fast becoming a fan’s favourite. With one reviewer commenting: “Whispering Angel is one of my favourites, but Tread Softly is giving it run for its money. It’s also slightly lower in alcohol which makes it perfect for warm days.”

Certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, Tread Softly has partnered with Carbon Neutral to reduce its carbon footprint through planting an Australian native tree for every six bottles sold.

Available to buy now from Waitrose priced at £8.

New at Sainsbury’s:

Elephant in the Room and Little Giant by Fourth Wave Wine

At Sainsbury’s, wine lovers can now discover Elephant in the Room and Little Giant—two expressive ranges from innovative, family-owned winemaker – Fourth Wave Wine.

Elephant in the Room has quickly secured a fan base of wine lovers with a taste for the bigger, bolder flavours of the Limestone Coast and South Australia.

The Elephant in The Room Palatial Pinot Noir is described by the retailer as being ‘big on velvetiness and attitude’, scoring a full 10 for flavour.

It is available to buy now, currently priced at £10.25 (£8.25 with Nectar).

Meanwhile, Little Giant, well-recognised on supermarket shelves for its iconic stumpy short bottle (a nod to the native Aussie wombat) is launching a full flavoured Barossa Shiraz which according to Sainsbury’s is small but mighty – ‘powerful, full-bodied, with black fruits, peppery spices and dark chocolate’.

Available to buy priced at £12.75 (9.75 with Nectar).

An environmentally conscious brand, Little Giant works with WIRES to support the preservation of South Australia’s hairy-nosed wombats.

New at Tesco:

Devil’s Corner Pinot Noir & Chardonnay by Brown Brothers

Close to Tasmania’s premium tourist destination Wineglass Bay, many UK tourists will have experienced the iconic Devil’s Corner Cellar Door and its beloved cool-climate wines.

Devil’s Corner Pinot Noir

Described as bold and humble; fearless yet considered and uniquely Tasmanian, the Devil’s Corner Pinot Noir is brightly coloured with a palate to match, boasting generous flavours of ripe dark cherry, raspberries and spice. Available to buy now priced at £15.

Devil’s Corner Chardonnay

A youthful, dry Chardonnay with melon and nectarine aromas, this wine is equal parts creamy and crisp, with a palate of bright citrus notes and refreshing cool-climate acidity. Available to buy now priced at £15.

Speaking of the new launches Will Downey, Senior Business Development Manager UK & I Austrade said:

“We’re thrilled to see such an exciting range of Australian wines landing on UK shelves this spring. These wines showcase the diversity, innovation and quality that Australia is known for as well as the demand for sustainable an
