CHANCE Clean Cider has announced a special live podcast recording in collaboration with Sober Boozers Club: We’re Still Drinking…Just Differently.
Taking place on Tuesday 3 February, Ben Gibbs, founder of Sober Boozers Club, author and Alcohol Change UK ambassador, will lead a panel discussion alongside John Logue, founder of CHANCE and driver of next-gen low & no brands. Together they will explore how consumers are drinking differently, while showcasing the stories, people and brands that are bossing the Dry January® challenge and using it as a platform for year-round shifts in mindsets and habits towards alcohol.
Gibbs and Logue have curated a powerhouse panel across the low & no sector. The lineup includes Brie Barrios, corporate partnerships officer at Alcohol Change UK; Harry McDowell, founder and CCO of Counter Culture as well as Sara Ashworth, senior brand manager at Lucky Saint. Also joining the panel will be Hattie Underwood of Sober Happy Free – a lifestyle influencer, coach and mother dedicated to supporting those on their sober journey.
Split into two parts, the live episode will reveal exclusive insights from Alcohol Change UK and examine how brands are responding to the Dry January® challenge this year. The second half will explore how sober and sober-curious communities are engaging with the challenge, alongside what is helping those who enjoy no & low options feel part of the occasion. The discussion will then close with a live audience Q&A.
John Logue comments: “We’re excited to create a space that is celebratory, curious and honest. The low & no category has evolved rapidly, and this event offers a fantastic opportunity to shed light on the personal wins as well as look at the innovation that’s helping to shape the sector.”
Ben Gibbs founded The Sober Boozers Club after giving up alcohol in January 2022. He has since tried almost 1,000 alcohol free beers, won a British Guild of Beer Writers and is an Alcohol Change ambassador. He comments:
When I first gave up drinking, I missed the beer, and I missed the pub. So it’s incredibly exciting that we’re now in a position where moderating alcohol consumption isn’t so taboo and we can have positive conversations and make space for those who want to cut back or abstain from drinking alcohol. The fact we’re recording this very episode in a pub says a lot about how far we’ve come.
The 2026 Dry January® challenge will see millions of adults rethink their drinking, try something new, and feel the impact of positive changes to their relationship with alcohol. Using the Try Dry® app and Alcohol Change UK’s tools and resources to take on the challenge doubles individuals’ chances of achieving a completely alcohol-free month and unlocking lasting changes to their drinking habits. Brie Barrios of Alcohol Change UK added:
Since it first launched in 2013, the Dry January® challenge has helped people kick-start their year feeling happier, healthier and more in control of their relationship with alcohol in the first month of the year and beyond. This year, with our incredible partners, we’re aiming to capture imaginations and celebrate the wins – big and small – that we can all achieve in January and carry into the rest of the year. We are thrilled to see CHANCE Clean Cider, has joined forces with Sober Boozers Club to create an event that will honour those stories, spark new conversations and show that healthier, happier choices will remain a focus for the entire year, not just for January.
We’re Still Drinking…Just Differently live recording will take place on Tuesday 3rd February at The Lucky Saint Pub in Marylebone. The episode will be available to listen to on the Sober Boozers Club podcast the following week on Spotify and Apple Music.
