Aldi is predicting a bumper year for at-home Valentine’s Day celebrations, as shoppers look for thoughtful and affordable ways to celebrate special occasions with high-quality food and drink.

New figures show sales of Aldi’s premium Specially Selected range have increased by 11% in the past year, highlighting growing appetite for premium food for special occasions.

The UK’s fourth largest supermarket has reported strong demand for its best-ever Valentine’s Day range, which features premium dishes such as Specially Selected Heart Shaped Lobster Pasta and new Black Cod in a Miso Glaze, allowing customers to create a restaurant-style experience at home.

Alongside food, shoppers are also picking up everything they need to set the scene, from Valentine’s candles and cosy nightwear to a special movie night bundle.

This Valentine’s Day, Aldi expects to sell more than 277,000 bouquets of flowers in the lead-up to Saturday 14th February. Its iconic Dozen Red Roses officially went on sale Wednesday 11th February, priced at £3.45 – the UK’s lowest price, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “Valentine’s Day is a key moment for customers, and we’re seeing a trend of more people choosing to celebrate at home in ways that still feel thoughtful and special.

“Whether it’s cooking a meal together, creating a cosy night in or adding a simple finishing touch like flowers, shoppers are looking for ways to mark the occasion without overcomplicating it.

“Our Valentine’s range has been designed to make that easy, offering quality, value and everything customers need in one place to enjoy a memorable Valentine’s Day at home.”
