WineGB urges independent retailers to champion local producers and drive footfall with English Wine Week

WineGBWineGB is calling on independent retailers and establishments across the country to back Britain’s fast‑growing wine industry by stocking English and Welsh wines and actively supporting this year’s English Wine Week campaign. With consumer interest in local, sustainable, and premium products at an all‑time high, the organisation says the opportunity for independents to boost footfall and differentiate their offer has never been stronger.

WineGB is providing participating retailers with campaign assets, point‑of‑sale materials, and promotional support to help them maximise visibility throughout the week. To register as a stockist or for assets visit here or join the conversation on social using the #DrinkEnglishWine

English Wine Week, running 20th- 28th June, is the national celebration of home‑grown wine, showcasing the quality, diversity, and innovation of producers from every corner of the country. WineGB is encouraging retailers to get involved through in‑store promotions, tastings, dedicated displays, and local storytelling that connects customers directly with the vineyards on their doorstep.

“Independent retailers are uniquely placed to champion local producers,” said Nicola Bates, WineGB CEO. “Consumers trust their recommendations, value their expertise, and look to them for discovery. English Wine Week is the perfect moment to spotlight the exceptional wines being made right here in the UK and to turn that excitement into increased footfall and sales, all year long.”

English Wine Week is a commercial advantage for independent retailers as it’s a category gaining national momentum, with new vineyards, rising production volumes, and increasing recognition for its quality and sustainability. Retailers who embrace the category fully, are well‑placed to build loyal followings and stand out in a competitive market.

This year’s activity aligns with WineGB’s Create New Traditions campaign, inspiring consumers to enjoy English wine more often and build new rituals around local wine. English Wine Week returns this year with a nationwide programme of events, tastings and vineyard experiences designed to showcase the quality, diversity and ambition of homegrown wine.
