Recreation Jewels, the Edinburgh-founded jewellery brand known for its bold, colourful and maximalist designs, has spent its summer taking that energy across Europe, from a Cannes Film Festival launch to two weeks on the beaches of Ibiza, marking the brand’s first international tour since it was founded just three years ago in 2023.
Founded in Edinburgh by Ranee Karmakharm at just 20 years old while still studying at university, Recreation Jewels has built a loyal following through its bold, colourful and maximalist aesthetic. The brand offers waterproof and hypoallergenic jewellery designed for everyday wear, combining playful self-expression with lasting quality. Its growth has been driven by immersive pop-ups, social media engagement and experiential retail concepts, including the Charm Bar and Matcha Bar at its Edinburgh flagship store.
Cannes: the first step onto an international stage

Recreation Jewels’ European tour began in Cannes, where the brand joined forces with Flabelus, the footwear label renowned for reinventing the traditional Venetian slipper through vibrant colours, rich textures and timeless craftsmanship, for an exclusive pop-up during the Cannes Film Festival. Launched with a special event on May 21st at 125 Rue d’Antibes, the pop-up welcomed a curated selection of creatives, founders, photographers, influencers and guests from the fashion and media industries for an evening of cocktails, music and jewellery gifting. Running from May 21st to May 23rd, it marked Recreation Jewels’ first-ever presence at Cannes and brought together two brands united by an expressive, accessible and confident approach to style.
Ibiza: bringing the maximalism to the beach
Cannes was quickly followed by a two-week pop-up in Ibiza, where Recreation Jewels brought its playful approach to self-expression to the island’s beaches, streets and sunset spots. Alongside the pop-up, the brand ran a series of community photoshoots across the island, styling its waterproof, hypoallergenic jewellery against Ibiza’s landscape, from beach coves to sunset terraces, to show how its pieces are worn in real life, not just on a shelf. The shoots also featured lifestyle content from the brand’s new summer merch collection, including beach bags, fans, and Ibiza-exclusive postcards and stickers.
A dream three years in the making
For founder Ranee Karmakharm, this summer’s tour is the realisation of a long-held ambition. Reflecting on the journey from a university side project in Edinburgh to pop-ups across the Mediterranean, Karmakharm shared: “I’ve always dreamed of bringing Recreation Jewels onto an international stage, and this summer felt like the perfect place to do that. The brand has always been rooted in self-expression and maximalism, and we were incredibly excited to bring that energy from Cannes to Ibiza. Three years ago we were just starting out in Edinburgh, so seeing that same energy resonate across Europe has been incredible.”
On the Ibiza leg specifically, Karmakharm added: “Ibiza felt like the perfect place to show what our jewellery is really about colour, confidence and self-expression. We wanted our shoots to capture how our pieces live in the real world, styled against the beaches and sunsets that make Ibiza what it is.”
With Cannes and Ibiza behind them, Recreation Jewels’ European tour marks a milestone summer for the brand — one that began with a single stall in Edinburgh and has grown, in just three years, into a name making its mark on the international pop-up scene.
