Oatly launches new fibre oat drinks

Oatly Oatly, the world’s original and largest oat drink company, has today announced the launch of two new oat drinks designed to make it easier to add more fibre to everyday habits: Fibre Barista Edition and Fibre Low-Cal Edition.

Fibre is an important part of a balanced diet, yet most people in the UK aren’t getting enough. Just 4% of the UK population currently meets fibre recommendations, while the average adult consumes around 14g less fibre per day than the UK Government recommended adequate intake of 30g.

Oatly’s new products are designed to help make up some of that shortfall through simple, everyday choices. Each 250ml serving (roughly one oat latte) delivers 5g of fibre – that means adding more fibre to your day could be as simple as changing the oat drink you make your post-gym shake with or pour into your coffee.

Included in the range is Oatly Fibre Barista Edition, a high-fibre oat drink made with coffee in mind. Delivering 5g of fibre per 250ml serving (that’s roughly one oat latte), it has been developed to perform in coffee without compromising on taste or texture. It is also low in sugars and saturated fat, and is a source of calcium, iodine, vitamins B2 and D.

For those looking for something a little lighter in taste, Fibre Low-Cal Edition is a low-calorie, high-fibre oat drink delivering 5g of fibre per 250ml serving, with zero sugar. Ideal for smoothies, shakes and other beverages, it contains 20 kcal per 100ml, is low in fat and saturated fat, and is a source of calcium, iodine, vitamins B2, and D.

Both drinks are designed to help contribute to daily fibre intakes without requiring a dramatic change to your daily habits. Because sometimes adding more fibre can be as simple as changing what you pour into your coffee, cereal or smoothie.

Fibre isn’t just a trend for Oatly, it’s part of its history. Oats are nutrient dense, rich in fibre and contain beta-glucans (a type of natural soluble fibre), alongside other beneficial fibre components. With more than 30 years of research and innovation in oats, Oatly has developed deep expertise in oat nutrition and in how to retain parts of the nutritional properties of oats when developing its range of drinks.

Kate Overy, registered nutritionist and nutrition science & communications lead at Oatly, says: “We designed Fibre Barista Edition and Fibre Low-Cal Edition to make it easier to incorporate more fibre into everyday diets. With most people in the UK not consuming enough fibre, getting an extra 5g can be as simple as choosing an oat drink that’s designed with fibre in mind. It’s a convenient, everyday choice that can help contribute to fibre intake without dramatically changing daily habits.”

New Oatly Fibre Barista Edition and Oatly Fibre Low-Cal Edition are available in Sainsbury’s now with an RRP £2.40, with further retailers stocking the range from throughout October.
