British heritage lifestyle brand, Barbour introduces its Knitwear collection for Autumn Winter 2026, a wardrobe of menswear and womenswear layers for the colder months.
The collection brings together two distinct stories: a premium Made in Scotland capsule, hand -crafted by Scottish artisans, and the wider Barbour Knitwear range, spanning Original Tartans, cashmere, Fair Isles and country flecks.
Forged by landscape and weather, Barbour knitwear has always been made to endure. Since 1894, when the brand was founded to protect seafarers and countrymen against the British weather, each piece has been rooted in function and purpose. The AW26 knitwear continues that legacy, with pieces designed for real wear, season after season.
Made in Scotland
At the heart of the collection sits the Made in Scotland capsule , a premium offering hand-crafted in Scotland with time -honoured skill. Rooted in Barbour’s heritage as a British brand with Scottish roots, these pieces are considered, hard wearing and unmistakably Barbour.
The capsule is produced in partnership with Esk Valley Knitwear, established in 1968 in Annan on the Scottish Borders and one of the few remaining knitwear factories in Scotland. Renowned worldwide for exceptional quality, Esk Valley’s knitwear is crafted by a skilled workforce whose expertise has been passed down through generations. Each piece is densely knitted and hand-linked to prevent sagging, pilling and wear, blending Scottish craft with unmistakably Barbour design.
This collection moves through classic knit styles in earthy, landscape-inspired tones. Fair Isle designs , including the Overton Knitted Jumper, sit alongside classic cable patterns and the richly textured lambswool twist Chester Knitted Jumper, crafted from pure new wool and lambswool to hold warmth close without weight. Seasonal colourways transition from warm rust and mustard to the verdant sycamore of the Cable Crew Jumper, while considered details like cropped silhouettes, dropped shoulders and tartan flag finishes bring quiet Barbour touches throughout.
Barbour knitwear
Sitting alongside the Made in Scotland capsule, the wider Barbour Knitwear range spans soft cashmeres to traditional cables and Fair Isle patterns and craftsmanship that defines Barbour knitwear.
The brand’s exclusive family tartan sett runs throughout bold all-over intarsia across the Glendyn Knitted Jumper well as subtle trims on half -kzips and gilets. Rooted in the countryside, the tartan colourways reflect natural mineral shades, from cool ice granite to rich pine green.
Winter Fair Isles, once worn by fisherfolk against the wild northern seas , carry that same spirit through traditional patterns refreshed in tonal and brighter hues, a celebration of Scottish craft and colour made for modern life.
For menswear, Gentleman Knits reimagine countryside heritage through a contemporary lens, with rugged yet polished pieces like the Staplecross Roll Neck which are defined by classic Barbour colours, Alcantara patches, and leather buttons. Country Flecks bring Donegal-inspired yarns, like the Fleck Shawl Sweater, which are rich, textural and full of rustic charm, like the field paths and firesides that shaped them.
For womenswear, the collection introduces a 100% Cashmere offering , including the Penwood Knitted Jumper, in signature Barbour shades from natural hues to earthy olive tones. A Cashmere Blend range extends everyday luxury across a wider variety of styles and shades, with colour pops and stripes that bring a playful note to the everyday.
Everyday Classics, led by the Ambleside Knitted Jumper, drawn from Barbour’s coastal heritage, reinterpret the cable knits once worn against cold northern winds – timeless, rugged and carrying the same spirit of endurance that has always defined the brand.
