The LEGO Group today opened the doors to its 24th store in the UK. Located in Lakeside shopping centre, the new 217sq m LEGO Store is already delighting fans of all ages, as they gathered excitedly this morning to catch the official opening.

William Johnson, age 9 from Essex, cut the ribbon and then shoppers were treated to impressive builds and exclusive opening offers. The first visitors to the new store also enjoyed LEGO product favourites such as LEGO City, LEGO Friends and LEGO Ninjago, plus LEGO Retail exclusives such as the LEGO Play Station™, LEGO Ideas Downton Abbey and the LEGO Star Wars™ Executor Super Star Destroyer™

Open seven days a week from 5th November, the new LEGO Store features a range of experiences including:

  • Unforgettable immersive experiences – including Pick a Brick Wall and Build a Minifigure Tower.

  • Exclusive products – the LEGO Store Lakeside will be home to the largest range of LEGO products, including many exclusive sets such as the LEGO Ideas The X-Files set and the LEGO Icons Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku set

  • Rewarding offers – guests at the new store will also have the opportunity to collect LEGO Insiders loyalty programme points which can be used for discounts on future purchases or exclusive member offers.

Amy Pearson, senior marketing director, LEGO Retail at the LEGO Group, said: “When we plan a new store location, we look for places where LEGO play can become ingrained in everyday moments – whether that is a family day out, a special celebration or a quick visit that sparks curiosity and excitement. Lakeside felt like a natural fit, and we’re excited to become part of a destination where people already come together to shop, spend time and make memories.”

Nancy Foster, centre director at Lakeside Shopping Centre, commented: “The arrival of the LEGO Store is a brilliant addition to Lakeside’s growing mix of leading retail brands. As one of the world’s most loved brands, the LEGO Group brings something truly special for families, collectors and builders of every age to enjoy together. More than a store, this immersive new space provides another exciting reason to visit Lakeside, reflecting our continued focus on creating a destination where people come together to shop, explore and enjoy experiences beyond shopping.”

This new store is the 24th LEGO Store in the UK and brings with it the creation of 24 new jobs within the local community.
