Aldi freezes price of baby formula to help new parents

Aldi is extending its baby formula price freeze to the end of 2026, helping parents save up to £5 compared with the average price elsewhere.

Britain’s biggest discounter will keep its Mamia First Infant Milk at £6.99 for the rest of 2026, extending its previous commitment to hold the price until summer 2026.

The £6.99 price has remained in place since June 2025.

Analysis by The Grocer found that the pre-promotional price of 157 baby formula products sold in major supermarkets rose by an average of 9.4% in the first two months of 2026.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has also estimated that families could save more than £300 a year by switching to less expensive formula products.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “Household budgets remain under pressure, and some infant formula brands are increasing prices. That’s why we’re extending our Mamia First Infant Milk price freeze until the end of 2026.

“We know that every penny counts for parents, particularly during those early years, which is why we’re committed to keeping this essential product accessible and affordable.”

UK regulations ensure that all infant formula products meet babies’ nutritional needs, regardless of brand or price.

The announcement is the latest initiative from Aldi to support parents. Earlier this year, it relaunched its Mamia New Parent Fund, offering £100 Aldi vouchers every week for a year to help parents with the cost of everyday essentials after welcoming a new baby.

Parents can apply by emailing mamiaparentfund@aldi.co.uk with a receipt showing their latest Mamia nappy purchase. For full terms and conditions, visit: www.aldipresscentre.co.uk/terms-and-conditions-for-aldis-mamia-new-parent-fund-the-prize-draw/

Aldi was also named as Supermarket of the Year at the 2026 by the Mother & Baby Awards.
