Aldi extends baby formula price freeze to summer 2026

Aldi is extending its baby formula price freeze to summer 2026, following the government’s pledge to better educate parents about infant formula affordability.

The UK’s fourth-largest supermarket will keep the price of its Mamia First Infant Formula at just £6.99, having previously pledged to maintain the price until the end of 2025.

This means families shopping at Aldi will continue to save around £5 compared to the average price of formula elsewhere.

The announcement comes just after the government published its child poverty strategy, including new measures to help parents understand that all infant formula sold in the UK must meet the same strict nutritional standards, regardless of brand or price.

The CMA have also estimated that families could save more than £500 a year by switching to less expensive formula products.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “At Aldi, we’ve always believed that people shouldn’t have to choose between great quality and low prices – which is why we welcome the government’s pledge to better educate parents about baby formula.

“All infant formula sold in the UK – including lower-priced options – must meet the same strict nutritional standards. Clearer guidance on this is vital and will help those who can’t, or choose not to, breastfeed be more confident in doing what’s right for their baby and their budget.

“Aldi has always focused on keeping essential products as affordable as possible, including providing the lowest-priced baby formula of any UK supermarket. Our priority is, and will remain, supporting families with access to trusted, nutritious options they can rely on. That is why we’re backing the government’s mission to make infant formula more affordable and will be extending our price freeze on baby formula until the end of 2026.”

UK regulations ensure that all infant formula products meet babies’ nutritional needs, regardless of brand or price – meaning parents don’t need to spend more to get quality nutrition.

The announcement is the latest initiative from the supermarket to support parents. Earlier this year, Aldi launched its Mamia New Parent Fund, giving away £100 Aldi vouchers to parents every week for a whole year to support with the cost of everyday items after welcoming a new baby.

The Fund remains open until March 2026 and parents can apply by emailing mamiaparentfund@aldi.co.uk with a receipt showing their latest Mamia nappy purchase. For full terms and conditions, visit: www.aldipresscentre.co.uk/terms-and-conditions-for-aldis-mamia-new-parent-fund-the-competition

In October, Aldi also partnered with perinatal mental health charity PANDAS Foundation to launch on-pack mental health messaging across its Mamia Sensitive and Extra Sensitive baby wipes – aiming to support parents and carers with practical, visible guidance during early parenthood.

Aldi has been confirmed by Which? as the UK’s Cheapest Supermarket of the Year for the past four years running and most recently won the monthly Which? Cheapest Supermarket for November.
