Asda launches on-trend Deli Fillers, and expert shares easy ‘hacks’ for serving them this summer

AsdaFrom cheese pulls, to chopped Italian and highly stacked indulgent builds, the new ‘Sandwich Boom’ sees the revival of Brits’ love for sandwiches in recent years through to 2025.

Bringing customers a mash up of trending ingredients but in one simple form, Asda launches three new deli fillers, said to be great for creating speedy yet scrummy lunches but without all the prep work. Not only that, but they cost just £1.48 with a serving size of 5 – saving customers pounds as well as time during busy summer months.

The best part? The NEW deli fillers have been created with multi-purpose in mind, helping busy customers find ‘hacks’ when it comes to spicing up their summer mealtime repertoire. As well as creating gourmet sandwiches, the fillers can be used when mixing up pasta or potato salads, layering up jacket potato’s, plating up BBQ sides, dipping crisps or loading up some hearty nachos and fries.

Predicted to be a popular choice due to its American-style taste notes, the new and first-to-market Cheese Burger 250g (£1.48) filler comes with cooked beef meatballs, gherkins and mature Cheddar cheese in a tangy tomato ketchup, Dijon mustard and mayonnaise burger-style sauce. Combining the nation’s drooling love for a classic cheeseburger with the need to make ‘something quick’ at home, Asda’s Product Development Manager of Antipasti & Dips, Hayley Cancea says: “I really love this new deli filler as it’s an all-rounder. Shoppers can simply load it into a fresh brioche bun at home for a convenient, tasty lunch, but my favourite way to use it is to load it onto some fries or nachos, it’s an easy dinner solution and great for those comfort-food nights in!”.

Giving cheese loving Brits what they want and responding to the Nacho Cheese Nostalgia trend, Asda’s new Spicy Chilli Cheese 250g (£1.48) filler combines cheese indulgence with the tangy heat of hot jalapeño peppers, as Asda admits that its customers already love spicy food. With a chilli rating of three, the filler mixes Mature Cheddar cheese & Red Leicester cheese with jalapeño peppers and chilli tomato mayonnaise.

Hayley Cancea, says: “My favourite way to enjoy this one is in a hot breaded toastie, and if you’re a cheese lover like me, don’t be shy to pad it out with some extra sliced cheese to get that ultimate cheese pull!”.

Another new product in the range is the Chicken & Stuffing 250g (£1.48) filler, made with fresh chicken breast, sage and onion stuffing and smothered in gravy style mayonnaise. Sounds familiar? It’s Asda’s take on one of its top selling sandwiches in the Food To Go counters, so guaranteed to be a hit amongst customers who want to big-up their lunch at home.

Hayley says: “There’s no doubt that this one is simply amazing in a loaded sandwich, as we already know that Asda customers love this ingredient combo. But why not try it as a filler for canapes at parties, in some mini Yorkshire puddings?”

The limited-edition Cheese & Pickle 225g (WAS £1.63, NOW £1.48) filler that’s also in the range, was created with classic British flavours in mind. The Mature Cheddar filler with pickled chutney, onions and creamy mayonnaise was inspired by ingredients found on a traditional Ploughman’s board. With pickle popularity also on the rise, Hayley says: “This one is great loaded onto some cheese and crackers at a picnic this summer, or as a little dip on a cheeseboard!”.

Customers who have already left reviews on the fillers online say: “Nice and tasty for a sandwich”, “A great new flavour. Lovely consistency and fab with jacket potatoes” and “Please do not make this a limited edition, it is delicious”.

Asda’s NEW fillers are available now, in store and online.
