Believ delivers ultra-rapid EV charging site in major South Yorkshire development with Primesite Group

BelievElectric vehicle (EV) charge point operator (CPO) Believ has completed the installation of ultra-rapid EV charging at a new commercial development on Riverside Way in Rotherham, in partnership with Primesite Group Limited. The new hub supports visitors, customers, employees and shoppers in their transition to EVs.

The site, which was made operational on 30th April, delivers eight ultra-rapid chargers providing drivers with reliable, high-speed charging at one of the town’s most prominent new commercial destinations.

Accessible for all. Built for the future

All charge points are fully accessible, ensuring inclusive use for all drivers, including the UK’s 1.35 million disabled drivers. The installation complies with the British Standards PAS 1899 guidelines that detail the space, layout, and ease of use required to ensure that people with diverse accessibility needs can access public charging without barriers or restrictions.

The inclusion of fully accessible infrastructure supports Believ’s goal to deliver cleaner air for all by widening access to EV charging for a broader cross-section of drivers.

High traffic. High visibility. High impact

Located adjacent to the newly developed Starbucks and just off the Ickles Roundabout, the site is convenient for both local drivers and those travelling through the region; seeing more than 40,000 vehicles pass per day. Plans for the site include offices and retail outlets.

Fully funded by Believ, the project has enabled Primesite Group to integrate future-proofed EV charging into its new development without operational burden or capital expenditure. The CPO is providing an end-to-end delivery model, covering site assessment, grid connection, installation, operation and long-term maintenance.

Craig Butler, Property Director at Believ, says the site reflects the growing demand for high-quality charging in high-traffic commercial locations: “Riverside Way is a prime example of how new developments are integrating EV infrastructure from the very start. With its prominent location, footfall and proximity to major routes, it is an ideal location for ultra-rapid charging and will play an important role in supporting current and future EV drivers across Rotherham and the wider South Yorkshire region.

“Our fully funded model means partners like Primesite Group Limited can support stakeholders transitioning to EVs without the financial or operational barriers that can come with significant EV infrastructure projects. We’re proud to support this exciting new development with a robust, reliable and future-ready charging solution.”

Scott Hinchliffe at Primesite Group Limited adds: “Our Riverside Way development is now well on the way to being fully operational with the Starbucks having been trading for a few months and Believ EV charging station adjacent, now open for business.  Believ were ahead of the market on this site and understood how to overcome the challenges presented in developing and delivering a site such as this, given the infrastructure issues developers and operators often face.”

“With the continued investment in the area, we feel this prominent and accessible site will trade excellently given its location and proximity to the town centre and being off the main arterial routes both in and out of Rotherham and to and from M1.”

Supporting sustainability. Enabling EV adoption

The installation of EV charge points is a core component of Primesite’s wider sustainability commitments, ensuring the site achieves its ESG and planning requirements, while offering accessible charging options for customers, visitors and the surrounding community.

This partnership reinforces Believ’s role as the charging provider of choice for commercial developers and landowners seeking accessible, renewable-energy-powered EV charging at scale. As demand for public charging accelerates, Believ continues to work closely with businesses across the UK to deliver inclusive, dependable infrastructure.
