Believ and Firehouse Oxford accelerate ultra-rapid EV charging access on key A40 route

Believ and Firehouse Oxford Electric vehicle (EV) charge point operator (CPO) Believ is improving access to high-speed charging through a new partnership with Firehouse Oxford that will deliver a fully funded, ultra-rapid EV charging hub at its site in Witney.

The restaurant with hotel rooms is conveniently situated near the A40, which links London, Oxford, Gloucester, and South Wales. It attracts around 27,000 drivers a day, making this hub a convenient, reliable charging location for passing traffic, local EV drivers or those using the Firehouse facilities.

The project will see six ultra-rapid charging bays installed, delivering charging speeds of up to 240 kW. The installation will also include an accessible charging bay, supporting inclusive access for all drivers.

Charging infrastructure at the site is expected to become operational in Q1 2027, subject to grid access.

The project is fully funded by Believ, meaning Firehouse Oxford can integrate future-proofed EV charging infrastructure without upfront capital investment or operational burden. Believ will deliver an end-to-end solution, covering site design, grid connection, installation, operation and ongoing maintenance.

Craig Butler, property director at Believ, says this is the type of location where ultra-rapid charging delivers the most value: “The site is highly visible, directly off a major route and perfectly suited to short dwell times. With strong daily traffic volumes and excellent amenities on site, Firehouse Oxford is an ideal hub location for drivers needing a fast, reliable top-up.”

He adds: “Our fully funded model enables businesses to offer essential EV infrastructure without complexity or cost, while helping drivers charge where they already stop. This project strengthens our growing network of strategically located ultra-rapid hubs across the UK.”

Dan Shotton, managing director at Firehouse Oxford, says: “This partnership reinforces Believ’s role as a trusted charging partner for hospitality businesses and destination sites, delivering reliable EV charging that supports customer experience, commercial value and the UK’s transition to electric transport.”
