Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain’s oldest fine wine and spirits merchant, has become B Corp™ Certified, joining a global community of businesses committed to meeting high standards of social and environmental impact.
The 327-year-old family business has been working towards this milestone for several years, embedding more sustainable practices across the business. These include reducing waste, tackling emissions, investing in regenerative viticulture projects, and working with producers and partners who share the same values.
Lizzy Rudd, chair of Berry Bros. & Rudd, said; “Achieving B Corp certification is an important acknowledgement of what we’ve achieved so far, but we view it as just one stage in our continuing journey. We will keep improving by focusing on measurable action and responsible stewardship — building a business that is fit for future generations.”
Earlier this year, the company announced a 15% reduction in emissions across the business, alongside other milestones: 100% renewable energy, a 160% increase in solar generation in the past two years, 40% of delivery vehicles now running on electricity, with another 30% running on HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil).
B Corp Certification is awarded by B Lab, the non-profit network that verifies a company’s total social and environmental impact — covering colleague engagement, environmental footprint, community contribution, and governance.
