London Designer Outlet recorded its strongest year of trading ever in 2023, with a Boxing Day sales surge capping off total annual sales of £99m.

The capital’s leading fashion and lifestyle outlet recorded its best Christmas week since its opening in 2013, including a Boxing Day bonanza that saw the outlet mark its strongest trading day to date, chalking up £866k.

Across December, the LDO welcomed a surge of visitors as recent additions such as Boss and Timberland, boosted footfall by 11% year-on-year. This rise in festive bargain-hunters lifted the outlet’s total sales in December to a record-breaking £11.2m.

As a result, fourteen of the brands that call the LDO home achieved recording breaking Boxing Day sales, including Calvin Klein, Moss and Levis, with store upsizes and upgrades driving year-on-year sales increases for The North Face (34%) and Tommy Hilfiger (30%).

Matt Slade, retail director at Quintain, said: “The success of a record-breaking December, including a best ever day sales performance on Boxing Day, brought to a conclusion what was an incredible year for London Designer Outlet.

“Our offering of premium brands at accessible prices, has allowed us to successfully continue to meet shifting consumer priorities towards premium shopping experiences at discounted price points.

“As financially conscious shoppers continue to seek a blend of affordability and quality, we anticipate even greater success in 2024 as we evolve alongside the demands of an increasingly discerning consumer base.”

London Designer Outlet is one of only a few outlet centres in Europe that blend retail, F&B, leisure and events in an easy-to-reach urban setting. The centre, managed by Realm – the UK’s specialist outlet operator – provides 265,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, including 70 outlet stores, restaurants and coffee shops.

After 10 years, the LDO remains the capital’s leading fashion and lifestyle outlet centre with aspirational and desirable brands including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, BOSS, Guess, Kurt Geiger, adidas, Nike, Puma, Lindt and others offering the bonus of year-round discounts of up to 70% off RRP – and up to 85% off during seasonal sale periods, such as Black Friday and post-Christmas Sales.
