Co-op - Retailer NewsCo-op adds in-store bakery range to its ‘meal deal’ offer for the first time as part of a new trial designed to extend both the retailer’s ‘on the go’ value proposition, and the meal deal offering beyond lunchtime.

The new trial will run for 12 weeks across Co-op stores nationwide and will see a wide range of bakery lines available as part of the ever-popular meal deal, as a side/snack. The move looks to drive frequency of shop and also meet the growing need of ‘on the go’ meal solutions beyond lunchtime, particularly breakfast.

Key breakfast in-store bakery lines such as Co-op’s Irresistible All Butter Croissants and Bakery Apple Crown with Almond Danish Pastry are amongst those included in both the retailer’s standard and premium meal deals*, which includes a main, side and drink.

Lyndsey Thornton, Co-op commercial buying manager, said: “We know our members and customers love the meal deal promotion, and as a convenience retailer, it is vitally important to us so we work hard to offer a wide range of options, delicious products and great value for our on the go meal solutions. Our latest offer will be available across all our delicious loose bakery items, providing an even wider choice of options to appeal to shoppers beyond their just their lunchtime, into breakfast or after work.”

Treat in-store bakery lines are also included in the meal deal such as Co-op’s new Cinnamon Cruffin (£1.10) – a delicious hybrid of a croissant and muffin has a flaky croissant exterior with a soft buttery centre crowned with a delectable cinnamon sugar dusting.

*Standard meal deal includes main, side and drink for £3.50 for members, and £4 for non-members. Premium meal deal includes main, side and drink for £5 for members, and £5.50 for non-members.
