Crosse & Blackwell launches two protein-packed soups

Crosse & Blackwell Crosse & Blackwell has announced the launch of two new protein-packed soup SKUs, Tomato, Lentil & Chilli and Tomato & Mixed Bean.

The new range offers nutritional functional benefits with higher protein and fibre content, supporting growing consumer demand for healthier, more satisfying meal options.

The 400g cans contain no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives, and will be available in Sainsbury’s stores nationwide from 17th August 2026 at an RRP of £1.25.

With increased consumer interest in health and functional foods, the grocery category is experiencing a surge of products meeting the ‘protein-maxxing’ and ‘fibre-maxxing’ trends. Consumers are actively seeking products to help hit their protein, fibre and other daily dietary goals. Crosse & Blackwell’s latest launch taps directly into this trend, reminding consumers soup is a convenient, hot option for functional nutrition.

Both soups are high in protein, with the new Tomato and Mixed Bean variety boasting 14g of protein and is high in fibre. The Tomato, Lentil & Chilli flavour is putting a spicy twist on a popular tomato base, offering 10g of protein and serving as a source of fibre.

Jeremy Gibson, marketing drector at Princes Group, owners of Crosse & Blackwell, said: “We are exploring how we tap into the UK’s growing appetite for functional, health-focused foods across our portfolio. Consumers are increasingly looking for convenient products to help them hit their nutrition goals but still deliver on taste and value – our protein and fibre-packed Crosse & Blackwell soups are a great product to meet that need.

“The new SKUs aim to bridge the gap between traditional soup consumers and modern, health-conscious shoppers. By combining the trusted homemade taste and quality ingredients of Crosse & Blackwell with nutritional trends and consumer demands, we are offering a product for those seeking a hot, hearty and satisfying meal, without compromising on quality or budget.”

With an estimated 96% of the UK population falling short of the recommended 30g daily fibre intake[1], ‘fibre-maxxing’ is quickly shifting from a wellness trend into an everyday shopping habit. Consumers are actively seeking easy, affordable ways to boost their intake through familiar ingredients and by utilising naturally fibre-rich ingredients like lentils and mixed beans.

Proudly made in the UK, Crosse & Blackwell’s latest launch taps directly into this behaviour, offering a versatile, hot option that helps shoppers comfortably close that nutritional gap.

The new Crosse & Blackwell soup SKUs will roll out nationwide:
