eBay expands trading card investment with new UK price guide

eBay, the world’s largest online marketplace for trading cards, today announced the expansion of its new trading card price guide to the UK. eBay is the first online marketplace in the UK to offer collectors a dedicated price guide for trading card games.

Trading cards continue to be a major growth area for eBay, with collectables remaining the largest contributor to the company’s global GMV growth in Q2 2026.1 Values can vary by condition, grade and demand, so access to up-to-date pricing and market data can help collectors and enthusiasts make more informed decisions when buying and selling.

With the latest version of the eBay app, collectors can access the new eBay price guide and scan cards from popular trading card games including Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece and Disney Lorcana to instantly view recent eBay sales data and help track the value of their collections. Price guide insights will also be available across the eBay app and desktop as the experience rolls out, including directly from trading card listings by

selecting ‘See insights’. Supporting both raw and selected graded trading card singles, the price guide draws on up to two years of completed transactions on eBay.co.uk.

The launch comes during a significant year for the trading card community. With Pokémon celebrating its 30th anniversary, MCM Comic Con drawing thousands of fans, and a packed calendar of new product releases, the trading card hobby is growing and attracting a wider fan base. In July 2026 alone, “Pokémon” was searched more than six million times on eBay.co.uk, underlining the continued interest in trading card collecting across the UK.

Adam Ireland, Vice President and General Manager, Global Collectables at eBay commented, “We’re continuing to invest in our trading card business and support our dedicated community of buyers and sellers with innovations that streamline the shopping experience. Earlier this year, we launched Authenticity Guarantee for trading cards in the UK. Now, we’re putting even more information in collector’s hands with eBay’s price guide, making it easier than ever for seasoned collectors and new enthusiasts to participate in the fast-paced trading card hobby.”

Recent activity on eBay.co.uk illustrates the pace of the market, with searches for One Piece rising 55% month-on-month ahead of the second season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation.

How price guide works:

Collectors can access the eBay price guide through the latest version of the eBay app by navigating to My eBay and selecting “Scan cards” from the Shortcuts menu.

●  Scan and identify: Scan raw or selected graded trading cards using a smartphone camera to quickly identify cards and find relevant comparables.

●  Access recent sales data: View up to two years of first-party eBay sales data, including accepted Best Offer prices, updated within the last 24 hours.

●  Compare: Toggle between sold and active listings and view PSA and CGC population report data to better understand market value and rarity.

●  Free to use: Available to UK eBay account holders on the latest version of the eBay app, with no subscription fees or usage limits. Availability will roll out from 1 September 2026.

eBay Trading Card Games by the Numbers in the UK:

Pokémon

●  eBay.co.uk users searched for “Pokémon” more than 105 times per minute on average in 2025.

●  In March 2026, as Pokémon celebrated its 30th anniversary alongside a slate of new trading card releases, a 2000 Pokémon Gym Challenge 1st Edition Booster Box sold for £37,000 in April 2026.

Magic: The Gathering

● A serialised The One Ring (79/100) card sold for £19,850 in January 2025.

One Piece

● In January 2026, as anticipation built towards the second season of Netflix’s live-action One Piece, searches for “One Piece” on eBay.co.uk increased by 55% compared to the month prior (December 2025).
