The UK’s largest family-owned furniture retailer, Furniture Village, has won a major accolade at a prestigious awards ceremony celebrating the very best of British family-run businesses.

Furniture Village was named Retail Family Business of the Year at the 2026 Family Business of the Year Awards.

In a competitive category, the retailer was recognised for its consistently innovative approach to retail, fantastic customer service, strong family values and ethos, philanthropic activities, and strong growth performance, including successful and continued scaling of its operations.

Charlie Harrison, managing director at Furniture Village, comments: “We’re absolutely delighted to have won Family Business of the Year. It’s a huge honour to win and a proud moment for everyone at Furniture Village. As a family-owned business, we have always believed that sustainable success comes from staying true to our values, investing in our people and delivering a fantastic shopping experience for our customers. This award belongs to the whole Furniture Village family.”

Businesses were judged on a host of criteria including charitable activities, family values, innovation as well as how much involvement family members play in business operations.

Family Business United’s founder and CEO, Paul Andrews, comments: “Furniture Village are fantastic winners of the retail award, successfully balancing the blend of scale with family ethos.  Family leadership into the second generation provides continuity, passion and the ongoing development of a uniquely positive culture as a family firm with a strong values framework and compelling articulation of purpose, people and long-term ownership. They also promote family ownership as a real, lived differentiator, focused on the customer experience. They are a business that cares about its people, cares about its customers and continues to invest in their future as a family business and are deserving winners of this award.”

The ceremony marked the fourth time Furniture Village has won Retail Family Business of the Year at the Family Business of the Year awards, having previously received the accolade in 2020, 2022 and 2024.

The awards ceremony, which takes place annually, was held at The Geographical Society in London. The award was presented by Jennifer Leeder, Head of Family Business at Birketts, one of the sponsors of the event.
