With peak wedding season just around the corner, many brides and grooms are looking for those last-minute touches to make their big day feel fresh, unique, and unforgettable. Whether it’s adding a vintage twist to a wedding cake, playing with soft pastel hues, or opting for promcore-inspired suiting, the wedding trends for 2025 are already starting to take shape.

To help those looking for inspiration, Nicola Barker, head of buying at Suit Direct talks through the standout trends for the upcoming wedding season.

Vintage inspired heart-shaped cakes:

While traditional three-tier wedding cakes continue to be a classic favourite, heart-shaped cakes are rapidly gaining popularity as a bold and playful alternative. Once considered outdated, these nostalgic designs are making a major comeback as part of the “nostalgia core” trend that’s sweeping through weddings.

With 15 million views for the hashtag ‘vintage heart cake’ on TikTok2, we can expect to see this design steal the spotlight at weddings this year. Typically adorned in red velvet icing or soft pastel hues and intricate piping, these cakes bring a mix of retro charm and modern flair, perfect for couples looking to break free from traditional wedding norms. Heart shaped cakes offer a unique way to make a statement and add a memorable touch to a wedding.

Wedding content creators:

Content creators have been taking over our social media feeds for years, and now they are bringing their expertise to a niche that’s starting to take off. Wedding content creators are becoming the latest trend, helping couples capture raw, authentic moments from their big day using the bride or groom’s phone. They take all the footage they capture throughout the day and edit into polished and shareable content, ready to upload to TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube.

While content creators aren’t a replacement for traditional wedding photographers or videographers, they do offer something extra. They work alongside those professionals to capture all the candid, in-between moments that are real and unposed, making the content feel even more personal. Plus, having this kind of content lets you relive your wedding in an entirely new way.

Vibrant bouquets:

This year, the classic cream and white bouquet is making way for bold, unforgettable floral arrangements that truly make a statement. Brides and grooms are embracing oversized bouquets with whimsical wildflower elements, bringing a sense of natural beauty and drama to their wedding day. We can expect to see bouquets in vibrant shades, such as primary colours, soft pastel palettes, and unexpected colour combinations.

Pastel prom-core inspired suiting:

Classic formalwear for weddings has been making a major comeback recently, with more couples looking to infuse a touch of retro glamour into their suiting choices. This trend is all about revisiting timeless styles with a modern twist, and it’s inspiring a whole new approach to wedding fashion.

According to Pinterest’s latest colour palette trends, pastel shades and muted tones like butter yellow, indigo, and alpine oat are set to dominate wardrobes in 20253. These soft yet sophisticated hues are already being embraced in prom-core inspired looks and are beginning to make their way into wedding fashion.

We’ve already seen these colours make waves on the red carpet, with Timothée Chalamet turning heads at the Oscars in a butter yellow suit, and Jeff Goldblum sporting an elegant oat jacket paired with an indigo scarf.4 These looks are inspiring wedding suiting trends by proving that soft, subtle tones can bring a fresh, contemporary feel to formalwear. For couples looking to stand out from the crowd, these pastel and muted shades provide a perfect way to break away from traditional wedding colour schemes while still maintaining an air of sophistication and charm. Whether it’s the groom’s suit or the groomsmen’s attire, these colours are bringing a retro yet refined edge to weddings, making them the ideal choice for those wanting to add a little vintage-inspired flair to their celebration.

Micro weddings and elopements:

Micro-weddings and elopements are gaining popularity in 2025 as couples seek more intimate and personalized wedding experiences. With rising costs and a desire for meaningful, stress-free celebrations, many couples are opting for smaller, more private ceremonies that focus on the most important people and moments. As a result, these celebrations are quickly becoming a trend for couples who want their big day to feel personal, meaningful, and free from the pressure of tradition, whether that’s a trip to Gretna Green or a small ceremony in a back garden.
