hmv Music lovers and pop culture fans, get ready for an exciting new era! Music and pop culture retailer hmv has opened its new shop in Amsterdam today, its second in The Netherlands just five months after successfully launching in The Hague in November.

With over 30,000 different products available, the 4,977 sq. ft shop is offering fans of pop culture an unrivalled range of music, film and TV, pop culture merchandise, technology, and literature set across two floors.

From today, customers can browse 6,000 different vinyl albums, 7,000 different CDs, as well as 4,000 films and TV shows across Blu-Ray and 4K Ultra HD formats, and a book range featuring new fiction, Young Adult and Manga titles, graphic novels, and music biographies. There will also be an extensive range of collectable merchandise on offer, with 4,000 pop culture products and over 500 different T shirt designs available across franchises including Stranger Things, KPop Demon Hunters, and Funko POP!

Phil Halliday, managing director at hmv and Fopp, said: “From K Pop to classical, heavy metal to EDM, films, Anime and books, our new shop in Amsterdam is bringing together ranges that can’t be found under one roof anywhere else.”

“We’re constantly striving to create new homes for communities of fans to come together and share their love of music and popular culture, and we’re so excited to be opening the doors of our new shop in Amsterdam today.”

To celebrate the opening in Amsterdam, the first 50 customers to make a purchase will receive an exclusive goodie bag packed with must-have pop culture merchandise.

The Amsterdam shop is a significant milestone for the business as it continues to broaden its reach across Europe and strengthen its position in EU markets following three successful launches in Ireland (Dublin, Limerick, and Cork), two in Belgium (Antwerp & Brussels), and one in The Netherlands (The Hague).

The retailer has over 100 sites across the UK where it contributed to the wider vinyl revival; this European expansion reflects the retailer’s continued confidence in the future of physical retail and renewed focus on prime high-street locations.

The shop’s address is Kalverstraat 8, 1012 NX Amsterdam, Netherlands, and its opening hours are:

  •  Monday to Wednesday – 10:00am – 8:00pm
  • Thursday – 10:00am – 9:00pm
  • Friday to Saturday – 10:00am – 8:00pm
  •  Sunday – 11:00am – 7:00pm
