Hobbycraft, the UK’s leading arts and crafts retailer, has been awarded the #1 Best Big Company to work for in the UK by Best Companies Awards 2023, thanks to several compelling factors.

Chris Fenlon, Retail & People Director at Hobbycraft comments; “We are delighted and so proud to have been awarded the 2023 Q2 #1 Best Big Company and #1 Retailer to work for in the UK, as we really do put our colleagues at the heart of everything we do.”

Hobbycraft creates a positive work environment to help colleagues flourish by placing wellbeing at the heart of the business. The retailer truly values its colleagues and the contribution they make to the business; it is constantly working to ensure it creates an environment where colleagues are proud of where they work and enthusiastic about the products they sell and the services they provide. To help customers with their arts and crafts, store colleagues are encouraged to advise on art, knitting and crochet, haberdashery, papercraft, baking, jewellery-making and much more.

To help give employees the skills they need to grow, and fulfil their own passions and businesses, Hobbycraft’s unique Artisan programme nurtures talent from within the business. There are proven benefits associated with crafting and an individual’s wellbeing, and Hobbycraft sees its role not only as sourcing and selecting products for its customers but also as a provider of inspiration and advice, delivered through its comprehensive online and in-store workshop programme, which are led by their expert craft colleagues.

This highest offered accreditation is awarded to organisations with the highest Best Companies Index scores who care about doing things right, value their people, understand the importance of a truly engaged workforce, and are “world class” to work for.
