Hollister to open first Leicestershire store

HollisterHighcross Leicester is preparing to welcome cult fashion favourite, Hollister, to the fold – a move that will mark the brand’s first ever venture into Leicestershire.

Its debut will see the brand take over the former Topshop unit, where it will unveil its ‘new format’ store; made up of a range of clothing, accessories and fragrances.

The upcoming launch follows an exciting year for the brand, having recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. First opened in Columbus, Ohio, in 2000, the Abercrombie & Fitch-owned retailer has seen its stores become global staples for laid-back, Southern California-inspired style.

Its arrival comes at a time when demand for nostalgic aesthetics, like the ‘Y2K fashion trend’, has seen a significant resurgence online, with as many as 20,000 online searches made each month in the UK alone.

As a brand known for championing early 2000s ‘casual cool’, Hollister is perfectly positioned to capture the hearts of Leicester’s style-conscious shoppers when it arrives at Highcross this winter.

Its addition is part of a wider strategy to introduce fan-favourite and trending brands, including those on shoppers’ wish lists, like PURESEOUL, which arrived at the centre in early May.

Commenting on its arrival, Michelle Menezes, centre director at Highcross, said: “Hollister has always been one of those brands that our shoppers have wanted at Highcross, and with the demand for early noughties fashion making a huge comeback, now is the right time to welcome this icon of high-street fashion to the centre.

“Since joining the centre, the goal has been to introduce brands that shoppers genuinely want to see in Leicester, and that ambition remains unchanged today. Hollister’s an exciting addition to Highcross, and it’s just one of a number of retailers that we’re planning to bring to the city this year, and brands that we’re confident our shoppers will love.”

Once open, Hollister will join other leading brands like Levi’s, H&M and Zara, Mango, Next, River Island and Urban Outfitters.
