InstaVolt has announced the expansion of one of its operational sites in Portugal, marking the company’s first site expansion in the country, as it continues to grow its electric vehicle charging network.
The site in Alcobaça is just off the N1 – a major North/South connecting road – and will be expanded from a single charger to three BYD 160kW ultra-rapid chargers, one of which includes an accessible bay. There is infrastructure already in place to support up to six units in the future.
Located at Bigodes Restaurant, the site holds particular significance for InstaVolt as it was originally home to the company’s first charger in Portugal installed as a pilot.
Strategically positioned along a high-traffic national road where many drivers stop to relax and recharge, the pivotal site saw huge success and has now been expanded to welcome more drivers.
With the newly activated chargers, InstaVolt’s live network in Portugal now stands at 16 operational chargers.
Head of Iberia at InstaVolt, João Lopes, said: “We’d like to thank our Portuguese team and partner Alferpac for their commitment and collaboration. They were all instrumental in growing this landmark site. We were delighted with the results of the pilot run at this site so expansion was clearly needed – delivering the convenience and ease for drivers that we wanted it to. I’m looking forward to seeing our Iberian site’s continued success.”
With 3,500 chargers live or in development across 1,000 locations in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Iceland, InstaVolt is committed to making EV Charging more accessible and easier-to-use.
