Little Waitrose Old Brompton Road Little Waitrose has opened the doors of its store on Old Brompton Road following a multi-million pound refurbishment, designed to deliver an even better experience for customers.

The transformation brings a host of new features and improvements to the 3,000 sq. ft. branch, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary next month (Little Waitrose Old Brompton Road opened on 27th January 2011). The shop is primed and ready to greet customers with everything from fresh produce and the best quality meat, fish and cheese to dinner from food lovers’ favourite – Waitrose No. 1, as well as desserts and beer, wine and spirits.

Branch Manager, Jack Latimer, who leads a team of 40 Partners at the shop, said: “Since Little Waitrose Old Brompton Road opened in 2011, we’ve built a fantastic following of food lovers as well as a dedicated team, including two Partners who have worked in the branch since it opened. We’re delighted to officially welcome everyone back and introduce them to our new look store with even more of the very best food and drink and the service they know and love.”

Highlights of the multi-million pound investment include:

  • New Look Bakery: offering maximum freshness and taste throughout the day.

  • Refreshed Fruit & Vegetables Section: better selection of fresh produce.

  • Increased Product Selection: across fresh and food cupboard aisles.

  • New Customer Coffee Machine: enjoy a regular hot drink from the self-serve machine.

  • Dedicated Lottery Counter: pick up a ticket during the grocery shop.

  • Self Service Tills as well as Staffed Checkout: providing greater choice.

  • New Refrigeration: replaced for improved energy efficiency.

  • Improved Lighting and Updated Signage and Decoration: making the store lighter, brighter and more navigable.

Local customers are able to pick up John Lewis, Waitrose Entertaining and Waitrose Cellar orders in store, as well as order home delivery from the shop using Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.

The first shoppers through the doors were greeted with the gift of a free tote bag for their groceries.

Nationwide investment

Waitrose is investing in every shop nationwide, from refurbishments to new openings. The £1 billion, multi-year programme is designed to offer the very best products, service and shops for customers.

Last month, Waitrose opened its first ever ‘Home of Food Lovers’ concept store in Newbury, reinforcing its mission to be the first choice for food lovers. Once tested with customers, new concepts will be introduced to other shops and become part of the blueprint for new Waitrose shops.

In addition, the retailer has announced a new 360,000 sq ft distribution centre at Mountpark’s Bristol 360 which will deliver to around 50 current Waitrose shops, with the capacity to accommodate more. Plus, Waitrose is opening a new full-line supermarket at Brabazon, an award-winning new town in Bristol. The 30,000 sq ft store will create around 150 new jobs.

Little treats

Waitrose has launched ‘Little Treats’ – a brand new member benefit. The new addition gives My Waitrose customers the chance to claim up to three treats each month, from free products to money-off their shop – making it the supermarket’s biggest giveaway since the return of free coffee earlier this year.

My Waitrose customers will now be able to access a brand-new ‘Little Treats’ tracker in their Waitrose account online or in the app. Once they have spent £50 a ‘Little Treat’ voucher will automatically pop up in their account, and another when they have spent £100, and a third when they have spent £250. At the beginning of each month the count will reset to zero, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy dozens of little treats over a year.
