Nectar360 expands coalition with FareShare partnership, unlocking new value for partners and members

Nectar360, which owns and operates Nectar, the UK’s largest coalition loyalty scheme, has announced the addition of FareShare, the UK’s leading food redistribution charity, to its growing partner coalition. The partnership allows Nectar members to earn points by donating money to the charity – which redistributes surplus food  to a network of 8,000 charities and community groups nationwide – and to donate Nectar points that can be converted into meals.

This marks a significant milestone for Nectar customers to be able to use their points to help donate food, and builds on the existing collaboration between Sainsbury’s and FareShare, which sees the retailer donate surplus food to the charity to support people and communities in need. Nectar customers can also earn 10 Nectar points for every pound donated to FareShare, with a quarterly 300-point bonus available to customers who set up a direct debit for regular contributions to the charity.

This partnership further diversifies the way Nectar members can earn and spend points within the programme, delivering greater value and options to its 24 million members. It also demonstrates Nectar360’s commitment to delivering value and growth for its partners.

Donations play an important part in FareShare’s work. A £5 donation to FareShare can help provide the equivalent of 25 hot evening meals for people experiencing homelessness, while £10 can help a community centre provide 50 nutritious meals for elderly people facing isolation.

“FareShare is a brilliant charity, and a great addition to the Nectar programme,” said Amir Rasekh, managing director, Nectar360. “With every new partner we bring on board, we offer our customers more choice and more flexibility to earn and spend Nectar points. While for our partners, membership to the coalition opens up a number of benefits: access to new audiences, world-class marketing and analytics capabilities and a points currency that customers love.”

Kris Gibbon-Walsh, CEO of FareShare says: “Becoming part of the Nectar coalition is an exciting step for FareShare. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase our work to millions of engaged Nectar members and customers, helping raise awareness of our mission to get good-to-eat food to people who need it, rather than letting it go to waste.

Every day, food from FareShare reaches a network of over 8,000 charities across the UK, from after-school and community lunch clubs to homelessness shelters, providing nutritious meals alongside access to vital support services. This work helps strengthen communities and improve lives.

With demand for food at record levels, FareShare’s work has never been more critical. Thanks to Nectar360, our message will reach even further, helping create lasting change, one meal at a time.”The partnership with FareShare comes soon after Nectar360 announced the addition of Marriott Bonvoy to its coalition, enabling members of both loyalty programmes to exchange points. Key partners include British Airways, Esso, Eurostar and American Express – all offering Nectar members more choice in the ways they can earn and spend Nectar points.
