Pukka Herbs, renowned for its premium organic teas, is excited to announce five reimagined blends for the New Year, building on favourite flavours to offer an even more satisfying and wellness-packed cup of tea. The improved blends will be rolled out gradually by retailers from January 2025.
As part of the ongoing investment by Lipton Teas & Infusions to ensure that Pukka is the premium herbal tea brand internationally, Pukka expert master herbalists have meticulously fine-tuned recipes to enhance tea drinking experiences through improved flavour profiles and maximising health benefits, whilst continuing to source from the highest-grade organic ingredients for:
- Night Time Berry: The enhanced Night Time Berry blend now boasts increased amounts of hibiscus and blackcurrant, complemented by the addition of blackberry and rooibos. This exquisite combination delivers an indulgent berry flavour with delicate, calming floral notes, creating the perfect accompaniment for a restful evening.
- Lemon, Ginger & a touch of Manuka Honey: Pukka herbalists have refined the beloved Lemon, Ginger & Manuka Honey blend to offer an even more satisfying sensory experience. The new recipe features a 50:50 ginger cut and introduces 26% lemongrass for added depth. The blend now has increased lemon peel content and reduced the liquorice for a less sweet, more zesty taste. The result is a harmonious, warming blend that soothes the senses with its perfect equilibrium of spicy, citrusy, and sweet notes.
- Morning Berry: A delightful fusion of sweet blackcurrant, luscious blackberries, and refreshing hibiscus to awaken the senses, this caffeine-free infusion features rooibos and rosemary for an uplifting start to the day. Packed with flavonoids, it offers powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, delivering a vibrant burst of fruity flavour in every sip. It has been recognised by the 2024 Great Taste Awards.
- Three Ginger: Experience one of the world’s favourite spices—ginger—in the new blend, with a higher percentage that enhances its fiery flavour. Warming ginger and galangal work together with gut-friendly turmeric to naturally energise and soothe the body.
- Three Mint: Featuring double the fieldmint content, the new blend contains even more refreshing menthol. Combining peppermint, spearmint, and fieldmint, this cooling infusion soothes digestion.
Additionally, two existing blends are being renamed to better reflect their composition and purpose in people’s daily routines. Turmeric Active will become Turmeric, Ginger & Orange, while Feel New will be rebranded as After Dinner. These changes highlight the key ingredients and make it even easier to choose the perfect blend for the right moment.
Pukka prides itself on using the best quality, organic and sustainable ingredients and through this process has focused on sourcing to increase the percentage of ingredients that are certified Fair for Life, with the percentage of Fair for Life ingredients in Night Time Berry tea rising to 47%. From inception, central to Pukka has been a commitment to positively impacting the lives of farmers and growers, the biodiversity of the planet and protecting it for the future. Pukka is certified by Soil Association Organic, Fair for Life, FairWild and 1% for the Planet.
These recipe changes, and updated packaging, incorporating a more vibrant rainbow of colours, are part of Pukka’s broader mission to harness the power of culinary herbs and spices to combat pressing global health issues, including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Pukka’s campaign to ‘Spice up your Life’, an initiative based on academic research has been taken to Parliament asking for herbs and spices to be included in the UK Eatwell Guide, for further investment in research on the benefits of herbs and spices on metabolic disease and for the benefits to be taught as part of food education in schools.
Commenting on the new blends, Marion Mackonochie, herbal science manager at Pukka Herbs, said: “These new blends represent our ongoing commitment to combining traditional herbal wisdom with modern nutritional science to improve diets and wellbeing. Our dedicated research into the therapeutic properties of culinary herbs and spices continues to inform how we can best support our customers’ wellbeing through delicious, functional herbal blends in a moment-appropriate cup of tea that customers have come to expect from Pukka.”
