One Water wins fundraising boost through Sainsbury’s partnership

B Corp certified, ethical hydration brand One Water has landed its first deal with Sainsbury’s. It will be the bottled water offered in the Meal Deal from June 2024 across 789 Sainsbury’s Local stores. For every case of One Water that Sainsbury’s buys, a donation is made to The One Foundation, raising essential funds for clean water projects around the world.
Earlier this year, One Water announced that, together with The One Foundation, it had hit the milestone of £30 million raised. These funds are helping over 5 million people gain access to safe, clean water. The One Foundation’s work is focused mainly in Sub-Saharan Africa – in Rwanda, Kenya, Malawi and Ghana – working on projects ranging from repair of hand-pumps in rural areas, to large scale piped water systems. Sainsbury’s joins a roster of current partners such as Co-Op, Starbucks, World Duty Free, Holland & Barrett and Bidfood. One Water is carbon neutral and the bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic.
One Water founder Duncan Goose says: “Having set out to change just one life, to have changed 5 million is an incredible milestone and one that would not have been possible had it not been for all of our incredible partners. We’re delighted that Sainsbury’s have joined us on our mission. Big firms are recognising the need to work with brands with purpose. There are still 703 million people globally who lack access to safe, clean drinking water, including a shocking 115 million who still collect untreated surface water from lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams. Partnerships such as this are game-changing for communities around the world. Thank you Sainsbury’s for choosing One.”
One Water estimates that they’ll be able to fund the provision of clean, safe water to around 2,500 people from the first year on shelf in Sainsbury’s, transforming lives in 10 communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
