New research has revealed that Londoners would rather sleep alone or with their pet, than with their partner.

A study of 2,000 UK adults, conducted by homeware specialists DUSK, delved into the bedtime woes of Brits, shedding light on how sleep habits differ across the nation.

The research found 42% of Londoners would rather sleep alone than with another person. What’s more, it was also revealed that 22% of Londoners would choose cuddling with their pet in bed over cuddling with their partner, much higher than the national average at 16%.

This is perhaps unsurprising as 46% of the capitals residents also reported that that they find the person they share a bed with annoying.

And when it comes to which sleep habits grind people’s gears, the study found that snoring was the most frustrating to Londoners (68%).

This was followed by stealing the covers (53%), tossing and turning (47%), sleeping with light on (44%), and sleep talking (39%).

Despite these frustrations, it appears many Londoners are guilty of having some of these bad habits themselves. More than half admitted that they are guilty of snoring (53%), tossing and turning (32%) and sleep talking (28%) during the night.

These findings come as DUSK prepares to open a pop-up shop in Westfield London on the 6th – 8th September, ideal for any Londoners looking to freshen up their sleep space.

Shedding light on the findings, Sian Guest, head of brand at DUSK has commented: “Sharing a bed isn’t always easy, as so many factors can impact how we sleep. But if you are repeatedly finding certain aspects of your partner’s slumber frustrating there are a few ways to help.

“Sleep is so essential to your wellbeing, so it is important to be completely honest with your partner. If their snoring or nightly twitching is keeping you awake, let them know so you can address it together. Similarly, if it turns out that you are the annoying offender, be open to how you can change any sleep habits.”

DUSK’s pop-up will showcase a selection of the brand’s best-selling products across the living room, bedroom, dining and garden collections. Visitors can enjoy 15% off any purchases made on the stand. There will also be a chance to win prizes from cosy throws to best-selling beds and sofas.
