Organic vegetable box company, Riverford undergoes end-to-end digital transformation with RELEX

Riverford, the employee-owned organic vegetable box pioneer, has selected RELEX Solutions for demand planning, production planning, and production scheduling. As part of their medium- and long-term growth strategy, Riverford has embarked on a digital transformation initiative, with the investment in a new ERP system with advanced planning capabilities. To harmonize core business processes and support evolving operational requirements, Riverford will implement IFS Cloud delivered by Arcwide, the largest global IFS Cloud partner, together with RELEX to drive efficiency across their operations.

Riverford is a recognised name for organic vegetable box delivery in the U.K. The company operates two organic farms and production sites and manages approximately 200 SKUs sourced from organic farms in the UK and Europe. As demand has grown substantially, Riverford identified the need to move beyond manual, spreadsheet-based planning to an advanced AI-driven planning solution that can ensure efficiency and scalability.

With RELEX’s unified planning solution, Riverford will move from reactive to proactive planning where demand and supply planning are seamlessly connected and plans are automatically optimized down to operational level accounting for the production capacity.

“Our commitment to delivering the freshest organic produce means we need precision and adaptability in how we plan and produce as we grow,” said Rob Morgan, chief technology officer at Riverford. “With RELEX, we can move away from manual planning to an AI-driven end-to-end planning solution that helps us make faster, better decisions to the benefit of our customers.”

Riverford will gain a comprehensive, AI-driven approach to production planning that touches every level of its operations, from long-term strategy to daily scheduling. The system will automatically balance demand and supply and keep the production plan optimised while accounting for optimal freshness requirements and capacity limits. By linking long-term planning with daily operations, Riverford will gain up-to-date visibility across its value chain, enabling faster adjustments to demand shifts, more efficient use of raw materials, and consistently fresher boxes delivered to customers.

“We are proud to partner with Riverford on this ambitious transformation journey,” said Steven Barr, Partner and UK&I Managing Director at Arcwide. At Arcwide, we believe that technology should empower people and drive growth efficiently, but sustainably. By combining our deep expertise in IFS ERP delivery with Riverford’s commitment to ethical business and innovation, we are confident this programme will set a new benchmark for operational excellence in the sector.”

“We are proud to support Riverford, a brand synonymous with quality and sustainability,” said Stefano Scandelli, RELEX Solutions. “Fresh produce planning presents one of the most challenging supply chain problems due to perishability, variable demand and short shelf lives. RELEX’s expertise in demand forecasting and supply optimization will help Riverford deliver fresher products, reduce waste and build even greater resilience in its supply chain.”
