Leading Build to Rent (BTR) developer and operator, PLATFORM_, is proud to announce two significant retail lettings at its developments in Glasgow and Leeds. A Sainsbury’s Local will open at PLATFORM_ and Northwood Investors’ flagship 498-apartment development at Anderston Quay in Glasgow, while an Asda Express will form part of the upcoming 1,351-apartment Sweetfields development in Leeds’ South Bank. The Sainsbury’s Local is expected to open in June 2025, while the Asda Express is scheduled to open alongside completion of the first BTR homes being developed at Sweetfields with Housing Growth Partnership in early 2027.
PLATFORM_ has long prioritised the inclusion of key amenities, such as grocery stores, within its developments to provide a convenient and enhanced living experience for residents. The addition of Sainsbury’s and Asda Express to PLATFORM_’s portfolio further strengthens this commitment and reflects the company’s dedication to integrating vital services into residential communities.
The Sainsbury’s Local store at Anderston Quay will be an asset for PLATFORM_ residents as well as the wider neighbourhood. Set to open in June 2025, the store will cater to everyday needs, offering a convenient and high-quality grocery option in an area that currently lacks local supermarkets.
Meanwhile, the Asda Express will occupy a 4,000 sq ft unit within Sweetfields, a 1.3 million sq ft neighbourhood in the South Bank incorporating over 1,350 new homes and 160,000 sq ft of Grade A office and commercial space all set around a new public square. Scheduled to open in early 2027, this store will serve as a key local amenity for residents and the wider South Bank community, further supporting the ongoing regeneration of the area.
These new openings add to a growing roster of major grocery operators across the PLATFORM_ portfolio, including Co-op in Cardiff, which has been successfully serving residents and the local community for over nine months.
