Remedy, the UK’s leading kombucha brand, launches into Asda

This month, the market leader Remedy Kombucha can proudly announce the availability of its Wild Berry and Raspberry Lemonade flavours in Asda stores nationwide and online at Asda.com (4 x 330ml; RRP. £5.50), the launch signifying a kombucha category first as Remedy becomes the first kombucha to be available in the UK’s ‘Big Five’ supermarkets (Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda and Waitrose).

With successful launches also including high street stalwarts such as Starbucks and WHSmith, and delivering an impressive 77% growth, Remedy continues to lead the UK kombucha market, which is today worth almost £24m (£23.8m).

Asda’s inclusion of Remedy meets the ever-increasing demand for healthier beverage options, providing shoppers with a delicious drink that blends sweet and sour notes, together with bold fruit flavours, which is low in calories and packed with live cultures, organic acids and antioxidants that can be beneficial for gut health.

“With the recent addition of our Asda partnership, we’re thrilled that Remedy has become the first kombucha brand to feature in all five of the UK’s major supermarkets,” says Ian Hadley, commercial director at Remedy Drinks UK. “The demand for functional drinks; and a shift in consumer attitudes towards healthier drinks has never been stronger. Our products offer an unrivalled taste with no sugar and with gut health benefits. This continues to see us go from strength to strength; and ultimately confirms our position as the signpost kombucha brand in the UK.”

Following the successful launch of Remedy Kombucha Wild Berry and Orange Squeeze multipacks into Sainsbury’s, the supermarket giant is also now increasing the product line to include a brand new 1L bottle format in Raspberry Lemonade and Ginger Lemon flavours (RRP. £4). This is the first launch of 1L bottles of Remedy Kombucha in the UK, highlighting the growing trend for consumer desire to have larger consumption offerings of healthier drink alternatives, perfect for sharing with friends and family.

Sainsbury’s is also launching Remedy’s new line extension into clean energy, Remedy Energy (4x330ml cans, RRP: £5.50) into stores nationwide. This exciting drink, which will be available in Tropical Twist and Berry Blast flavours, offers customers a healthier energy drink, providing a naturally caffeinated kick powered by green tea, raw green coffee bean extract and ginseng, made from Remedy’s proven kombucha base.

Tesco recently released stats on how sales of kombucha, the health-boosting fermented tea loved by celebrities, have soared by 65% in the past two years, spearheaded by Remedy. Kombucha has enjoyed such a boost in popularity that Tesco recently added Remedy to its Meal Deal. Tesco shared that, since the lockdown, there has been a general uplift in shoppers looking for functional food and drink, which supported the decision to make kombucha, and particularly Remedy Kombucha, more widely available to its customers. This has, in turn, helped boost their sales, with the likelihood that other retailers will inevitably also follow this trend soon, as indicated by today’s launch news.
